Rove Eyes Election '04 Dogfight

January 23, 2003

Washington - The upcoming presidential race is going to be a closely fought battle reminiscent of the contested 2000 presidential contest, senior White House adviser Karl Rove said yesterday.

Rove said a potential conflict with Iraq could inject an element of uncertainty into the race and, while he did not specifically note the defeat of President George W. Bush's father to Bill Clinton in 1992, he said wars can lead to a president's defeat.

And the big question is: Will Bush push a true conservative agenda or will he continue to "steal DemocRAT issues" (code words for signing liberal bills into law)?
