I had earthlink for a while, great service... but they are $cientology, so unless you don't care who you're funding...

I currently have Verizon DSL.... AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! Life is good.

I had both (three kids, three computers, two phone lines and two dial-up ISP's) and they're both OK. I ditched them for DSL through SBC when that came to my area. That way all three home computers could go on line at the same time using a router.

MSN likes to spy on you. Earthlink has financial problems. It's a tossup. I'd try Earthlink first.

I have MSN dial-up (6 more months on contract) and Earthlink DSL. Earthlink support is the best I've encountered. They fixed a problem I was having with my router/firewall the Netgear couldn't touch. Not only did Earthlink not complain about sharing the connection with multiple computers, they straightened out a weird problem with the router.

Of course, it would have been nice if the modem documentation had been complete in the first place.

I got a $400 dollar rebate at Best Buy for singing up for 3 years with MSN. I'm not unhappy with the deal.

Falcon is correct!

Personally, I do not like MSN at all.

If you are reasonably comfortable with the internet, a cable modem is definately the way to go.

Earthlink's parent company, Sprint, gave money to Handgun Control, Inc.

I use Earthlink and recommend it although I don't know anything about MSN. Whenever I've had a problem I've gotten prompt help which resolved my issue.

I've used earthlink for years with no problems...ever! Although I have Road Runner at home, I've kept my earthlink email address and account for when I travel and need to use my laptop.

Unless you might need to travel and still access your account, I would look into a local internet provider. I have a local dial-up ISP and I get online the first time I nearly every time. I have been with them for a few years now with no problems. I'm not sure where you are posting from, but my ISP http://www.warwick.net/ covers parts of upstate New York & New Jersey...

I have had MSN for about 5 years. Since my only other option to dial up is satelite, I'm stuck.

I'm tired of paying 23 bucks a month for cruddy dial-up. Anybody have any experience with the bargain dial-up services? Net Zero, Juno? They're only 9.95 for unlimited access.

Hope you don't mind my joining in your thread, Faith:)

They used to not have it. I wonder when they added it, and whether it is all versions. I use an older version because new has an intrusive tool bar.

Check out RipoffReport.com and look up both of them. They both do funny stuff. There are lots of other providers out there. One place for identifying an ISP is FindAnISP.com some quick browsing and googling can help you track down stuff pretty fast.

I've been with the pay Netzero service for about a year. I used to do the free stuff from them until they cranked it down to 10 hrs. a month.

Biggest problem is they log you out after 4 hours without regard to any downloads that may be ongoing. If I could send a lightning bolt where the sun doesn't shine they'd get the message daily.

Other than the 4 hr crap I have no complaints.
