I've used Earthlink since Nov. of 1997 and never had a problem.

Having had both, I far prefer earthlink. They are much more responsive and if problems do arise have the expertise to take care of it quickly. I vote earthlink.

I have used Earthlink for years with no problem. Also, besides a small Denver carrier, I believe they are the only ones without Carnivore on their system.

Get a Cable Modem, you'll never go back!

If it's in your area. If not,

DSL

Earthlink posted a loss of $37 million for the quarter that ended 12/31/03. It also announced that it is laying off 25% of its workforce.

No prediction here; but maybe a check mark against Earthlink would be its finanical condition.

I have MSN and very happy with the service.

Their trouble service is quite responsive and knowledgable.

The only time I have had to wait more than a few mins is when the entire system is down (twice in 2 years). A little more expensive but worth it when trouble hits.

Now that is what I call creative accounting!!! Did they book it against last year's earnings?

Go to www.ev1.net and enter your zip code to see if you can use them. They charge 9.95/month for dial-up

I far prefer Earthlink, but it's been over a year since I've used their service so things might have changed. If you're looking for personal webspace and don't want a Yahoo-style preformatted "photo album" approach, stay away from MSN.

On the other hand, at one time (2001) Best Buy gave you a $200 in-store credit if you subscribed for two years of MSN at the rate of $21.95 a month. Might be worth checking into, in case they still do.

DSL is probably your best choice if you can get it, and in the end the cheapest. It allows you to be online without that "second" phone line. If you factor in the cost od a second phone line, either DSL or a cable modem are probably cheaper.

Tying up your only phone line does not promote harmony in the house (unless you live alone).

You'll also injoy the faster speed...

First with Mindspring (since 1996) and they became Earthlink a while back. Have 3 sites hosted with them, email thru them, and am happy. MSN I have no idea about, but I already give Bill enough money, so I see no reason to find out any more.
