Protest organiser John Sarvis said he was disappointed by the firm reaction of police

HE would have freaked if they'd gotten inside the building. Dead protestors everywhere after that. Embassies are sovereign territory.

Sorry to see trouble where you are, shaggy. People are acting crazy everywhere! Got an email from my son from an internet cafe in Rotorua. Luggage lost in Sydney!! He LOVES it there, says we MUST go there.

I didn't realize New Zealand had a large Muslim population. Sort of like when they say "student protest" here in the USofA yet these "students" look middle eastern.

There's a lot less drama in becoming a Member of Parliament here than becoming a taxi driver.

Right on the balls, Shaggy! Er, I still haven't been elected to the House, but...

Can you imagine, I came to this country because I was fed up with real life drama back in the Balkans, he-he-he.

Kia Ora Shaggy,

Can't figure out how these fellows thought they'd get into the embassy proper.

From my stay in Wellington, I distinctly recall the building composition: a squat, concrete looking pillbox with one narrow (Marine gurded) entrance and no windows to speak of.

Perhaps they have better luck at the French embassy protests.

Somebody PLEASE shoot these bastards (and sink the Greenpeace "Rainbow Warrior" blocking the British military seaport). And please don't hand me any "free speech" crap, because these actions are going beyond that. Enough is enough!

It doesn't, Miss Pie. In the 2001 census, 23,623 people were recorded as adhering to Islam. That is something like 0.6% out of a total population of 3.9 million.

Er, they also have America's Cup ... for now.

So their America's Cup entry qualifies as their Navy?
What weight does their broadside throw?

The Walloping Window Blind
by Charles E. Carryl

A capital ship for an ocean trip
Was the Walloping Window Blind.
No gale that blew dismayed her crew
Or troubled the captain's mind.
The man at the wheel was taught to feel
Contempt for the wildest blow.
And it often appeared when the weather had cleared
That he'd been in his bunk below.

The boatswain's mate was very sedate,
Yet fond of amusement too;
And he played hopscotch with the starboard watch
While the captain tickled the crew.
And the gunner we had was apparently mad
For he stood on the cannon's tail,
And fired salutes in the captain's boots
In the teeth of a booming gale.

The captain sat in a commodore's hat
And dined in a royal way
On toasted pigs and pickles and figs
And gummery bread each day.
But the rest of us ate from an odious plate
For the food that was given the crew
Was a number of tons of hot cross buns
Chopped up with sugar and glue.

We all felt ill as mariners will
On a diet that's cheap and rude,
And the poop deck shook when we dipped the cook
In a tub of his gluesome food.
Then nautical pride we laid aside,
And we cast the vessel ashore
On the Gulliby Isles, where the Poohpooh smiles
And the Anagzanders roar.

Composed of sand was that favored land
And trimmed in cinnamon straws;
And pink and blue was the pleasing hue
Of the Tickletoeteasers claws.
We climbed to the edge of a sandy ledge
And soared with the whistling bee,
And we only stopped at four o'clock
For a pot of cinnamon tea.

From dawn to dark, on rubagub bark
We fed, till we all had grown
Uncommonly thin. Then a boat blew in
On a wind from the torriby zone.
She was stubby and square, but we didn't much care,
And we cheerily put to sea.
We plotted a course for the Land of Blue Horse,
Due west 'cross the Peppermint Sea.

,,, looking at some of the photos in "The Dominion" Brian, a lot of these types have grey hair and look like they're bean eaters left over from the 1960s Vietnam protest marches. If they have jobs and attend this sort of protest, their motivation is admirable. Now, how to get them to think?

,,, better watch out, we're launching our first satellite in 2005. Once we got sealed roads there was no looking back.

,,, and the time before. The Swiss yacht is the main contender. It's crewed by a good number of Kiwis too.

Yes New Zealand does have a navy. FYI it’s an ISLAND nation. It’s not large (3 frigates, Te Mana, Te Kaha and Canterbury), one is in Australia on it’s way to a 6 month tour of the Arabian Sea, one has been part of the Iraqi blockade for the past 6 months, and one is in NZ waters.
