United Nations, Feb. 5 (Bloomberg) -- France, Russia and other members of the United Nations Security Council said U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell's outline of evidence against Iraq made the case for strengthening UN weapons inspections.

French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said the use of inspections to disarm Iraq ``has not been completely explored,'' and he proposed doubling or tripling the number of inspectors and adding French Mirage IV surveillance aircraft to scout suspicious activity in Iraq.

I am frustrated beyond belief. Did I hear it right when the French Foreign Minister basically said, "Well, we think he's got VX...we're guessing he has sarin...he might have anthrax...we need to give the inspectors more time! Triple the inspectors! We'll give you a Mirage to fly over! Open more offices!"

What will it take to get these blind, blind people to wake up and see reality?

They just don't get it.

Powell reminded them that the purpose of the inspectors was not to be detectives.

The purpose of the inspectors was to verify that Saddam's WMDs had been destroyed. The burden of proof was on Saddam to prove to the inspectors that he has done so.

They want to make up the mission of the inspectors as they go along.

Anything to save Saddam's ass.

Maybe when the Iraqis can hide all the "Fait en France" and "Gemacht in Deutschland" labels on the WMD items.

Love the part about adding the Mirage IV's.

Powell said his evidence shows Iraq has sanitized chemical arms bunkers, blocked interviews of its scientists and hid biological arms labs in special trucks and train cars.

SecState Powell has demonstrated how totally ineffective the inspection regime has turned out to be. It's obvious Blix and his staff is completely infiltrated and compromised. So of course France and the other Weasels want them to continue. Reminds me of:

Beating a Dead Horse

Dakota tribal wisdom says that when you discover you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. However, in {diplomacy] we often try other strategies with dead horses, including the following:

1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Say things like, "This is the way we have always ridden this horse."
4. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
5. Arranging to visit other sites to see how they ride dead horses.
6. Increasing the standards to ride dead horses.
7. Appointing a tiger team to revive the dead horse.
8. Creating a training session to increase our riding ability.
9. Comparing the state of dead horses in todays environment.
10. Change the requirements declaring that "This horse is not dead."
11. Hire contractors to ride the dead horse.
12. Harnessing several dead horses together for increased speed.
13. Declaring that "No horse is too dead to beat."

The call for more inspectors? See #12

Germany's foreign minister, Joschka Fischer, who presided over the meeting, said ``we must continue to seek a peaceful solution.''

He said more than that. I read a Reuters article describing his position as president of the Security Council for February.

Among other things he said: Confirm Powell's data with Iraqi data, that is, verify Powells's data on the ground in Iraq; Push for increased, longer inspections and more inspectors, U2 flights, and a 2nd Iraq resolution.

He wants to delay any until resolution past the favorable attack dates in the middle of February through March.

And.., if there was a war, Germany is the perfect candidate for a role in the peace process, since it chose not to go to war. He (Fischer) is well known in the region since he has lobbied for Middle East peace since his first days as Foreign Minister and has won much respect in the region.

For German Readers.. Yahoo-Germany / Reuters Vorsicht!! Kotz Gefahr

Vorsicht!! Kotz Gefahr = Caution!! Barf Alert

Help is on the way. 100,000 US and 30,000 British inspectors
will be in Iraq very shortly.

Powell showed a satellite picture of a chemical weapons site replete with decontamination van and guard hut; a subsequent picture taken 43 days later showed the UN arriving to inspect the site (how did we know exactly when) which by then had been scrubbed.

Does anyone believe that during the time between the two pictures there were'nt other pictures taken? How about infra red nighttime shots? I'll bet we know when the chemical weapons were removed and where they went.

Powell showed all he could without compromising our methods and capabilities.

I believe that you are correct.

I long to hear Powell tell the Irrelevant UN, France and Russia,"We have heard you loud and clear. The inspections will continue. The 101st Airboard and 10th Mountain are beginning the next round of inspections right now."

Yeah, that would make my day.

Even better, to hear our dear President address the Irrelevant UN, "Thank you for your opinions, and if we ever want to make empty statements we'll be sure to give you boys a call. But until then, step aside, us adults have work to do." (As W blows the smoke from the barrel of his six-shooter, twirls it around his index finger a few times and slips it into the holster strapped to his leg. Oh, yeah, ride 'em Cowboy!)

Here's a prayer for our wonderful leadership (DemocRATS aside) and the brave men and women who are bravely facing the unknown for our continued freedom. May God bless them - and may God bless our great nation.

Those supporting continued inspections, are INSANE.

One clinical definition of insanity (in psychology, psychiatry) is doing the same thing, over and over, expecting different results.

There you have it, on the record.

Saddam is the SANE one. He is doing the same thing, over and over, expecting (and so far getting) the same results.

The problem with being insane, is you don't recognize it, for you are insane!

Liberals, anti-war advocates don't grasp that showing strength, a willingness to fight, is the best path to avoidance (or minimization) of war.

Power begets power; weakness begets weakness. Defeating true evil is morally correct, and falls under the definition of "just war."
