--having given gallons of blood in my lifetime, my experience is that the donation stops when the bag is full. I wonder how you "overbleed"?

For some folks, you aren't supposed to fill the bag, for one thing. Men can tolerate more blood giving that women.

The last time I donated blood to the red cross I was ill for days and not myself for a month. I will never do it again.

Well, I just gave blood this week in Boise to the Red Cross. They filled the bag and three small vacutainers (for testing). No overbleed here. Everyone was very professional. The only thing I can think of is that they aren't waiting for the 58 day period to go by before taking more blood...but that's not likely.
