Murders happen every day in the USA. If I were a DA the murder of an abortionist would not be my top priority to prosecute.

Killing "abortion providers" - you mean the guys that tear apart the unborn babies? Well, no. I don't think they should be killed - just arrested and imprisoned. Until the point in time that abortion becomes an illegal practice just as murder is - until then, anything short of killing these unfortunate bastards should be done: awareness campaigns, changing the laws, electing pro life legislators and increasing the number of pro life judges, etc. You know the incremental approach.

I can understand however the desperation that drives some to kill infanticide practitioners. In that case, juries should show sympathy just as they do to women who kill abusive spouses for example. And terminating innocent life is so much more horrible.

Once again, I find myself wishing that some people would at LEAST learn that just BELIEVING, though it be with all heart and soul, that a medical procedure constitutes "murder", and therefore justifies a premeditated shooting of an unarmed physician, does NOT make it so. "Murder" has a legal definition which in NO WAY includes an elective abortion. Thus, shooting a provider is NOT, in any way, considered the "defense" of anyone.

Let's be clear here. Kopp is a MURDERER, confessed. He did what he did out of psychosis, not any altruistic motives. he was encouraged to believe that, in performing his murder, he would be praised by the prolife fanatics he so enjoyed being reinforced by. He is NO "hero" at all, as if sneaking up on an unarmed doctor and backshooting him could EVER be considered "heroic" by anyone with a lick of humanity and decency.

The strongest BELIEF in the world does not justify murder, regardless of what it is. We all must follow the law. Even if abortion was banned (and it will never be, folks), killing a provider of it would STILL constitute murder, just as killing ANY criminal in cold blood, without a threat to yourself would be.

Though it may sound tired, it is also true that to condone this psychopathic behavior is to begin treading a road that ends in places NO American wants to go. It also does irreparable harm to the conservative movement as a whole.

I would rather see our society deal with the root causes that drive these people to do violence in an attempt to save the lives of countless innocent children. I am personally opposed to killing abortion providers and would never do so myself. However, it might be wrong to make that moral decision for others. Perhaps I'm moderately pro-choice on the concept of killing abortionists.
