Moseley-Braun plans to file papers for exploratory committee

Former Illinois Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun plans to file papers for a presidential exploratory committee early next week, a spokesman said Wednesday. Her entry into the 2004 presidential race will expand the Democratic field of candidates to seven.

"We are planning to file papers Tuesday for an exploratory committee," said Kevin Lampe, spokesman for Moseley-Braun.

He said Moseley-Braun will go to Iowa on Saturday, New Hampshire on Sunday and South Carolina on Monday as a guest of American Women Presidents, a political action committee.

Moseley-Braun also plans to request a speaking slot along with other presidential candidates at the Democratic National Committee's winter meeting Feb. 20-22. That option is only available to those who have publicly announced their intentions to run for president and file papers for an exploratory committee.

No timetable has been set for a formal announcement of a presidential bid.

Those already in the race are former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, Missouri Rep. Richard Gephardt, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman and the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Moseley-Braun, 55, made political history in 1992 by being the first black woman elected to the Senate.

Early in her term in the Senate, she drew national attention after speaking against Jesse Helms, R-N.C., when he sought to renew a design patent for the United Daughters of the Confederacy's emblem that included the Confederate flag. She later accused Helms of taunting her in an elevator by singing "Dixie."

But she was criticized for splitting an inheritance from her mother that should have gone to reimburse Medicaid; for allegations that her campaign manager and then-fiance Kgosie Matthews sexually harassed workers; for a monthlong, postelection trip to Africa with Matthews; and accusations that campaign funds were used for jewelry and fancy clothes.

In other words, she has decided that running for the presidency, which she has no chance of winning, will nevertheless enable her to bilk hundreds of thousands of dollars out of stupid liberals to replenish her wardrobe and pay for more cars and foreign vacations.

A crooked politician in the true Chicago tradition

I wonder if the rats are going to have to pay her as much as Sharpton to go away.

Al is probably holding out for at least 5 million before he packs it in.

Its a giant extortion plot played on the Democratic party in plain sight.

Sharpton will be flying around in corporate jets after this, and he deserves it.

Extortion never happened to a more desrving group.

Please make it so!! Please let every semi-functional leftist moron see himself or herself or itself as president and seek the nomination. In exchange for giving up we'll see, at the convention, some of the best absurdist television since Professor Irwin Corey hung up his cap and gown

I just love the media --- From national attention - to - being criticized National attention because she spoke out against Jesse Helms. Criticized because she stole Medicaid funds, used campaign funds for jewelry & clothes, and expensive trips. What a mixed up world

"Former Illinois Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun plans to file papers for a presidential exploratory committee..."

Moseley-Braun's handlers probably still have to explain to this nitwit that it doesn't mean she's required to have an extremely involved rectal exam by a bunch of proctologists...

She later accused Helms of taunting her in an elevator by singing "Dixie."

One of Lincoln's favorite tunes. He and his boy Tad used to sing it together on the WH porch. I have to admit it's catchy. I even find myself humming a few bars from time to time. Perhaps Moseley-Braun would prefer something more spiritual sounding, like "Old Black Joe" or "Carry Me Back To Ol' Virginny."

In the upcoming democratic primary (2004) ...

Register as a democrat and vote for Crazy Al!

Rev. Al Sharpton is officially running for president in 2004.

"I feel that the Democratic Party must be challenged in 2004 because it didn't fight aggressively to protect our voting rights in Florida," he said recently. "I think we need to look at running a black in the primary. I have said I would be available to do it." He’s gonna do it!

Sharpton said the idea came to him while he sat under a tree in Sudan, which he visited in April 2001 on a fact-finding tour about slavery.

Assume GW has the Republican nomination sewn up. Its time for all good republicans, libertarians, and independents to stand up and be counted. Lets take a page from Sen. McCain’s play book. Prior to the 2004 democratic presidential primary in your state, re-register as a democrat and vote for Al Sharpton!

Wouldn’t it be great if Crazy Al won! At the very least, lets ensure he gets Friday night prime time speaking rights at the 2004 nationally televised democratic convention. You gotta love it. Line up, sign up, and send this to all your like-minded friends.

Anyone know where I can get a yard sign? ===== Cut ===== Paste ===== and Email =====

They forgot to mention the Jeep Grand Cherokee and expensive gifts for her friends. If it wasn't for Wanker Willie and Dieseldyke Reno pigeonholing the evidence against Mostly-Fraud, she'd be in prison.

Is this to take votes from Shapton and marginalize him in the primary, opening the door for a Kerry, Edwards, or Bob Graham.

This is the Donna Brazile strategy--to recruit black "favorite sons" in key primary states to divide the black vote and keep Sharpton from winning the primary.

It's crucial in the early primaries to take Sharpton out or it's going to get real ugly. Rush said today that early polls show that in SC, Sharpton would get 40% of the black vote.

Carol Mostly-Fraud is a stalking-horse candidate. It's transparently obvious that the Clinton Rats are using Mostly-Fraud to siphon votes away from the Reverend Al.
