The real problem is the round de round stuff that NASA is now confined to doing. This is why the 30 year old design is still flying around.

We need to get over of the political correctness crap, ie International Space Station, and lookeee here a (fill in the blanks for favorite country) person is now in space .... whooppee de da.

Why not put a base on the moon and contemplate the nearest planet? Where is the adventure. We have lost it. That is why we go round de round.

I was there when the first shuttles were built. The excitemnt was high. But the gloss is gone now.

We don't need a new shuttle, we need a new aim point. New challenges.

You left out... The foam insulation was re-engineered to eliminate freon from the process to protect the ozone hole that has closed by it'self... yada, yada, yada...

I still think the ice chuncks and foam stuff hit that Reinforced Carbon Carbon (RCC) leading edge and shattered it just enough. The EnviroNuts caused the unnecessary deaths for absolutely no good reason!!! (IMO)
