Assuming this effort is successful, what happens then? Who is the chief executive while awaiting the choice of a new governor? I assume another election for governor takes place. Who might the candidates be? Do the repubs have anyone with a ghost of a chance in a general election?

When we get the 900,000 it goes on the next ballot.

Also on the next ballot is a totally open general election, anybody from a Liberatarian to a Whig could win.

For the Republicans? People here know State Senator Tom McClintock. http://www.tommcclintock.com. After all, only Californians are voting, even though this will have national impact. He's on the local conservative radio shows often, articulate, fiscally in the tradion of Reagan, and in my opinion would be truely a worthy candidate. Other than him, I haven't heard much, but this is early.
