Our robes aren't spotless, too, you know. We are right up there with Japan as a country murdering millions of babies in the womb annually, and drugs all over the place. We have no right to criticize.

I never said they were. I simply found that male-female relationships were pretty disfunctional and you need look no further than the birth rate and the marriage rates in Japan to see that there is some objective evidence of problems. I'm not saying this because I'm happy about it. I think it is sad. Japan cannot continue to exist with its culture intact if the Japanese people (A) don't marry and don't have children in sufficient numbers and (B) don't interact with each other in a functional manner that transmits their culture to the next generation.

We are right up there with Japan as a country murdering millions of babies in the womb annually,

From what I understand, the Japanese abortion count is about as high as the American count with half the population. That said, at least the Japanese are more honest about what abortion is. Not only do they have shrines for aborted babies but I've seen several dramas were abortion was depicted in a very negative light -- something I'd never see in an American television show.

and drugs all over the place.

Sure. And part of the problem in Japan is the Russian maffia.

We have no right to criticize.

Sure we do. The idea that you can't be critical about someone else's problems unless you are without sin yourself is simply a way to avoid acknowledging and solving problems. If you think I'm trying to bash Japan, I'm not. If you've followed my posts here, you'll see that I've sided with the Japanese controlling their immigration to preserve their culture, I've said repreatedly that I wished they had nuclear weapons, and I've argued against Freepers that want to "nuke 'em again" because they don't think anything has changed since the 1940s. I really enjoyed the time I spent living in Tokyo and I'm sorry that it ended so quickly.

That said, Japan has some serious problems. It has economic problems, birth rate problems, and other serious problems that could ultimately leave their culture to collapse. The Japanese I know who are still there are very nervious about their future yet feel powerless to do anything about it. I can sit here quietly and let things fall apart or I can point out the problems, not that anyone is listening to me, anyway.

I really see Japan lagging about 30 years behind the US. Just as America's economy shifted from manufacturing to service amid lay-offs and a bad economy and just as America's culture turned more coarse and less civil, so I see Japan following. I don't think that's a good thing. I think it's a shame. And, yes, that means that I think America is further down the drain that Japan is.
