Well, the word is that Gene will be indicted by the federal grand jury in Washington. This thing was in the works for a long time. The first sign that this would be his Waterloo was the fact that it was being handled by justice in DC. The next was that Roberts and the assistant woman were charged by information rather than indictment. Third was that they both had plea deals cut and made before they were even charges. And last is that both have sentencings set way off in the future. When you see that, well you can know that those persons have cut a deal to testify against the real target of the investigation. They set that sentencing off to ensure that they cooperate fully. I supposed when Roberts was charged by information that this is where it was headed. I would now suspect that Gene has cut some sort of deal. Resignation preventing possible prison time, or maybe even, no charges (but that I doubt, since they will want to ensure that he never runs for anything again,) Gene wouldn't go so quietly and quickly otherwise. If I were Walt Roberts or the woman, I would be making inquiries about witness protection, because Gene won't take their betrayal very easily. He will want his pound of flesh. I agree with you okchemyst, Gene knows where a lot of skeletons are buried. I wish he would name names. It could really clean this place up. You don't get to where he got without knowing where those skeletons are.

Just think of it: Gene diggin up bones from his 53 years in public life! It could boot Gov. Henry's single minded pursuit of the lottery off the front pages and lead stories on the local news.

I agree with you on witness protection. There is a whole lot of mountain and forest in SE OK to get rid of a little dirty laundry, and plenty of slack jawed yokels who'd do it for a C-note.
