You are correct, but, really, doesn't it have more to do with snow plows and salt (or lack thereof) than driver skill? When I moved to Michigan from Texas, I heard on at least 20 occasions (as the person made condescending sniffs) that, "people in the South don't know how to drive in the snow." After one year here, through 4 seasons, I can now confidently and without fear of rebuttal make the statement, "people in Michigan don't know how to drive in ANY damned kind of weather."

You said it! When we moved to PA we got the same insulting comments about Southerners not being able to drive on snow...... last winter we had a freak snowstorm during the day that stranded hundreds of cars along the highway..... it took my neighbor over 7 hours to get home (less than 30 miles) ........ seems those snow plows and salt sure do help with driving skills.......lol

The secret is snow tires!
I vaguely recall a fall ritual of getting snow tires put on the car when I was growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.

People in Texas can't even drive in a drizzle!

You've got that right!
Michigan has got to be the only state where they break for green lights. I have never seen such stupid drivers in my life.
