SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.(AP) - Anescia Boyd's job for the county is to interview down-and-out residents to determine if they're eligible for welfare benefits.

Now she's worried she may become one of them, a possible victim of the state's record budget deficit and its potential ripple effects across California cities and counties.
