[history]
Despite the nation's heightened terror alert status, despite looming congressional hearings into the lab's mismanagement and slack-jawed security, an untrained person -- armed with only the vaguest sense of the facility's layout and slowed by a torn Achilles tendon -- was able to repeatedly gain access to the birthplace of the atom bomb.

That's ok.
It is unlikely Bubba is guiltless in Los Alamos' recent
history. Reno did a horrible job of prosecuting that
spy they caught there. Probably didn't want to offend her
fellow Socialists. There was also a visible drop off of
overall security in classified envrionments while Bill
was in charge. I watched it happen.
Does that leave the current administration without a job
to do?. No.

Bill Richardson is governor here. He's quite familiar with Los Alamos inadequacies I'm sure.

How it SHOULD have gone down:
Stopping at a decrepit barbed-wire fence outlining TA-33's rear, I swung my legs over, one at a time. Suddenly a hammer blow just below my right shoulder blade slammed me to the ground, stunned. I tried to take a deep breath but could not seem to get air. As I faded into unconsciousness a nearby voice said "got one!"

Where is Governor Bill?? Busy trying to set up a new full time office in Washington. And setting up billboards there bragging about being a democrat who cuts taxes. Where is former Clinton Energy Secretary (Head of Los Alamos)and newly elected NM Dem Gov. Bill Richardson when it comes to the security of the high tech. facilities in his home state? Not a word. Too busy getting face time in DC and NYC. He wants as much distance from DOE/Los Alamos as possible.
I still think there is a lot of dirt on the previous adminstration (and his part in it)at Los (Loss Security)Alamos, the vanishing hard drives, and much much more.
This dirtbag Richardson (he realy lives in DC) knows about this and is afraid, very afraid.
It may still be his undoing.

The Governor of New Mexico has no responsibility for guarding Los Alamos National Lab. The Department Of Energy has that duty. Get your facts straight.

According to lab sources, however, TA-33's collection of prefabricated shacks and converted trailers is one of Los Alamos' most secret sections, focused in part on "black," or covert, operations. The reporter doesn't know what he is talking about.
Looks like nothing has changed.
No it hasn't, I went under that same fence to play when I was a kid. That would have been the Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon administrations.
