Actually- I have heard that the even the audience of NPR is conservative. Liberals are dumb and are not news consumers.

Can Al Franken save talk radio?
Only if it falls into the bathtub with Franken in it.

Clue me in on how people are working hard to defund public radio. If there is anyting I can do to get Daniel "suredumb" Schorr and Nina Tootenberg off the air I want to help.

Al, perhaps, had a sense of humor 20 years ago....but he has lost his style and direction in the past 10 years. I see his period on talk-radio lasting less than 12 months. People will reach a point where they are wondering if he is being political or just showing humor...and when he fails to show humor on the democratic side too...it will start to be a slow hour on the radio.

I didn't know it needed saving. I'll give Mr. Cohen some partial benefit of the doubt. I doubt he really listens to *any* major shows for any period of time.
He must have stopped on a show that was playing a Howard Dean sound bite. Dean is quite frightening. Constant Dean would chase away the audience.

It's a fact: College kids do not listen to talk radio. Old white men do. Incomplete. Talk radio is listened to by old white men named Chuck while they drink beer and clean their guns after a day spent shooting at blacks and gays, while their wives and children are forced to reload ammo and mail bomb threats to NPR.

I can't picture a liberal loving country music...they must freak out when they hear:
Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly,
And there's gonna be Hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell!
It's gonna feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you...
Brought to you courtesy of the Red, White and Blue!
Oh, Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A
'Cuz we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way.
But hey, those of us in the "flyover states" are just
a bunch of ignorant hicks and rednecks, right? :)

Besides all that, he's a triple-bagger. The third bag is catastrophy (sp?) insurance.

Heh. I'm all of 34, and I've been listening to talk radio since I was 15. Comically enough, I never actually made it off the FM band until -this year-, so I never really listened to Rush or any other conservative talk shows. I just listened to local talk radio stations on the FM band.
I like classic rock, and I can listen to that on tape or at home, I see no point in listening to music radio where I have to deal with, at -best-, at least one annoying lame song out of every 3.

You got the question backwards. Can talk radio save Al Franken? I think the answer could be yes if he would listen to Rush 3 hours a day with an open mind. But, since he does not have a mind I guess that makes it a moot point.
