Iraq to submit report on VX, anthrax in a week

BAGHDAD, March 3 (Reuters) - The United Nations said on Monday that Iraq would submit a new report on VX nerve gas and anthrax stocks in a week time as part of efforts to avert a possible U.S. invasion.

"Iraq will be providing a report on the VX and anthrax in a weeks time," Hiro Ueki, spokesman for U.N. weapons inspectors in Baghdad, told Reuters.

Iraq held talks on Sunday with U.N. arms experts on the VX and anthrax stocks it says it has destroyed.

Baghdad began destroying some 120 al-Samoud 2 missiles on Saturday, meeting a key deadline set by U.N. chief arms inspector Hans Blix, who says their range exceeds the 150-km (93-mile) limit allowed by U.N. resolutions.

Why does this take a week?

There is a 200k force army building waiting to invade and they will wait a week to give this report? Wouldn't it make sense to give..oh I dunno, half the report NOW!!

Oh I forgot. At the end of that 2 day meeting Blix had with the Iraq officials about a month ago. Iraq gave up 'new' chemical weapon info as well, but Blix said, there was nothing there.

If the whole thing wasn't so serious, it would almost be amusing....

Just watching the BBC in the background where they stated that Iraq refused to allow pictures of the missiles being destroyed getting out, because it would bring too much pain to the heart of the Iraqis.. :-)

Why does this take a week?

Because next Sunday is one day before the next round of UN talks will probably resume. With the US asking for a vote. Then Blix can say "But, but, we haven't been able to see if they're telling the truth about this. We need more time".
