Yeah, I made black powder bombs when I was a kid, too. And I fooled around with potasium tri-iodide, which was pretty cool. Plus I had a cap gun and a BB gun, and a slingshot made from surgical tubing. And a drawer full of throwing knives. And a homemade speargun that I made for a summer in the Bahamas. Those were the lost days of innocence, I guess. What with kids shooting their classmates and blowing up schools, it's no longer a good idea to let them do these things.

But the real problem isn't rockets and explosives, it's the fact that so many kids are moral ignoramuses, because they aren't allowed to learn about the basics of religion and morality in school any longer.

75% saltpeter (potassium nitrate)

13% charcoal (carbon)

12% brimstone (sulfur)

Or so I recall from my younger days...

It's a "low" explosive, which means it just burns rapidly. "High" explosives, like C4, genuinely explode (i.e., blow up real good).
