Would Jordan now support a U.S. invasion launched from it's eastern border with Iraq?

Well, since Turkey has shown themselves to be a bunch of turkeys, what are the chances that the troops and equipment destined for Turkey would be allowed to move to eastern Jordan?

I believe Jordan is already in. We have prepositioned stuff there. It is quiet, but I think we will launch a Western Front.

Jordan - like a few other countries - is really in the "don't ask, don't tell" category. Mere overflight rights might be enough and those have already been granted in large part.

I still say unload the 4th mech infantry in Israel - and drive across Jordan. The whole world would wet itself but then Iraq would know we MEAN BUSINESS.

Nah. Drive THROUGH Syria and tear them a new one.

Going through Syria or Iran would give us the element of suprise, if it didn't spark a larger war.

It may not be necessary nor wise to bully Jordan. King Abdullah attended Sandhurst in the UK and trained in the Armored Officers course at Ft. Knox, KY. He may just help willingly.

I think we're doing what we can to stop Israel from being dragged into this war. I don't know how the Jordanians would react to our armed forces coming in from Israel. It could get ugly.

The troops could actually unload in Jordan, couldn't they? In Aqaba? I made a joke some days ago on a thread saying that the 3 mystery ships were actually ours and they were waiting for a stealthy dock time in Aqaba.

We already have special forces in Jordan, going in and out of Iraq at will to recon targets. Also, mention's been made that the major thrust of the Brits during the invasion will be from Jordan.

I think you mean Al Aqabah. Yes, they could. That would add 100 miles to the transport distance over the Israel route, and the ships could be there tomorrow. Quickie run though the Suez then aorund the Sanai Penensula). But then what about the Egyptians? Can they deny use of the Suez?

I found the Jordanians pretty friendly to Americans.
My wife was wearing things which would have gotten her beaten in Saudi Arabia and no one gave us any grief.
They are still very suspect of Israel though.

Jordan's doing enough - quietly.

Right, Al Aqabah.
Yes the Egyptians could throw a wrench in that plan, both by closing the Suez and just by announcing what we were doing ( the route to Aqabah goes right by them).
But from what I've heard, they've seen the writing on the wall and are quietly with us on this.

I just noticed that the map I posted shows the West Bank and Golan Heights portions of Israel as belonging to Jordan.
I wonder just who owns the worldatlas.com site I pulled that image from?

That's odd, because even the anti-Israel types say Syria should get the Golan heights. It's probably just another color because they're disputed territories. Likewise, Jerusalem is a different color than Ammn. Why? Or is it just a waste of time to read too much into things like that?
