The story of that heroic flight crew is told in the book Hijacked: The True Story of the Heroes of Flight 705.
The aircraft was a FedEx DC-10.
Yep, written by former Memphis Commercial-Appeal aviation and business writer Dave Hirschman, now with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, I believe, and probably making life as interesting for McDonnell-Douglas and the airlines flying out of Lambert International as he did for FedEx and Northwurst in Memphis.
There's a pretty good capsule description of the attempt by Auburn Calloway to take over FedEx Flight 705 and use the airplane as a bomb to take out the Memphis FedEx Operations Center *here*. There's also a pretty good description of what can be done to prevent such problems *here*.
