The more I hear about all of this, the more ominous it is to me. Thanks for the information. It's a topic I plan to continue studying.

"Kuwait belonged to Iraq, Mr. Hussein argued, because modern Iraq was the lineal descendant and heir of Ottoman Basra. And Kuwait had come under the sovereignty of the province of Basra in the days of the Ottoman Empire"

Whoah whoah.. stop right here. Awful grammar.. awful!

And I hope I got that right.

"Destro ve eleni121'in hic bir Türk icin iyi bir niyeti yok.
Onlara bütün Türk Cümhuriyeti bir Seytan gibi.
Onlari inandirmak imkansizdir."

(Sorry, I don't know how to do Turkish accents in ASCI.
I just copied some of yours)

Anti-Turkish Red propaganda is being recycled and given new life. Thank you for your corrections.

"Southern Baptist Conference"

I've been reading this thread today, enjoying the civil discussion and learning quite a bit as I go. Just though I'd add this small off topic note, which you can put in the possible use for later file, if you are interested. There is no "Southern Baptist Conference", but there is a "Southern Baptist Convention" which meets once a year composed of anybody from any participating church who would like to attend.....all that happens at these conventions is informational only and any "resolution" that is past is only representative of the convention in which it was pasted, and has no binding power on any indivigual church. We are non-hierarchical in structure....thus no person or group of persons speak for Southern Baptist. Southern Baptist are non-creedal. This is rather particular to Southern Baptist and it is understandable how most think we operate like most other denominations.

now back to main topic...

Thanks for the alignment!
I had always, in my highly Euro-centric, hierarchical mind, envisioned all the Baptists meeting in Conference to sort of lay down the law about what was going on, or to go on, in the Baptist network. Sort of a hometown version of the Council of Nicea.

Your expo makes it sound very user-friendly, collegial, and inclusive. Now why can't our Muslim brothers pick up on this idea? Imagine them all meeting outside of Mecca in a nicely appointed Conference Center and talking about getting a few things straight. For example, allowing a Baptist church to be built in Saudi Arabia. Or something even more basic: stop killing, forcibly converting, mutilating, or enslaving Christians.

I am, as you more than likely wouldn't have occasion to know, a Biblical scholar of some local reknown: the discoverer and translator, in fact, of the ancient Apochrypha of NASCAR

If I may quote unto my Brothers in Islam:
".... cleave not unto thy goat, and if thou wishest to convince me of thy good intentions, start beating the ass of thy radical bomb-throwing brother until it feedeth at the manger of rightheousness, or yea verily we shall beat thine really bad on our way to beating thy evil brother's. O Yeah, we shall beateth you all, the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, which about covereth thy sect, severely, even terminally, if neccessary, in hopes that your Allah guy shall sorteth it out fairly."
