"" . . . If we have to, I guess we'll have to do it without the Brits. It's a sorry situation we are in.But I do think that Blair has given it his best. It's too bad that a large majority of the British public think very little of our long-standing relationship."
Bush should call Blair and say: "Thanks, but you're off the hook; we can do this alone - no need to fall on your sword."
I respect Blair too. He's turned out to be a lot more than Clinton-lite - he's shown that he's a pal. Cut him lose and let's do this.
...this will happen, it will be successful..and EVERYONE Iraqi's, Americans, and the BRITS will all be the better for it....
DITTOS!!!!!
I noticed that too. It occurred to me he looked sick, like he might have cancer. His skin color is bad, he looks gaunt and tired, and seems to be dispirited.
I suppose the strain is wearing on him with all this diplomatic delay.
The temperature this afternoon was 86 degrees in Kuwait City. Time is not with us on the weather and everybody seems to be ratcheting up the pressure for more and more delay. If this keeps up much longer we may pay a much higher price than we already have to.
The first time that Bush said weeks not months was in February 2003.
When you get a chance please check this out. Does any of this help our cause in blinding Sadam and his military when we actually start the ground initiative. Don't believe all the hype. If anybody's laughing it ain't Sadam. I believe we've gotten great intel from the last bust of Mohammad and we're still moving forward on the war on terror as well as Iraq, and North Korea.
No...it doesn't look that way.
After all the media trumpeting calls of 'IMPEACH BUSH' from a billion gazillion anti-war protestors here in the United States, and with support for a war on Iraq only leukwarm while his approval numbers drop through the floor, has President Bush hasn't backed out?
Perhaps the Propaganda Machine wants President Bush to drop out as avidly as they want Blair to drop out REAL BAD, to save the Third Way, or whatever the worldwide coalition of socialist democrats is calling themselves these days?
Pray faithfully and strongly is my first piece of advice.
My second is for you to move out of California. I'm not trying to be flip about your problems, but if it's possible, you might consider moving somewhere where the job prospects are better and the state isn't out for your last dime.
People older than us went thru much worse and made it; you will too.
Likewise here. Discouragement does not even begin to describe my feelings right now.
Of course, my last sentence will prompt those so confident that we can get Saddam without breaking a sweat. If it were so easy, why not be done with it already? The longer we waited, the more went against our cause.
Agreed. And I fear we've gone past the point where we can proceed any further. We have now lost the one steadfast ally we had from the very start. That is an enormous blow from which I doubt anyone -- even Bush -- can recuperate.
I am really depressed right now. And no, I am not going to switch political parties away from being a Republican, and yes, I would vote for Bush again in 2004.
I am equally depressed, if not more so. The sad thing is, I honestly don't know if I'll vote for Bush again after he's managed to FUBAR this slam-dunk. (And no, that doesn't mean I'll vote Democrat...gag.)
I am watching our economy go into the tank, my wife lose her job of 22 years, the price of gas go through the roof, and now California wants to triple our car tax.
Someone please tell me where is the positive in all of this?
I'm sorry to say that I don't see one. The vocal minority shouted down those who were in the right. Our so-called leaders have just flat-out caved in. It's a dark time, and I only see darker times ahead now that we've let the Left know they can filibuster anything into oblivion.

I wish we could, but between my wife and I, we have 3 parents who live within 1 hour or so from us that are not in the best of health. And to be honest, I like living in the heart of Silicon Valley. Yeah, I know, a rarity for a Republican!
But thanks for the kind thought! :)
It should be obvious to everyone that Saddam will meet the minimum requirements of these "benchmarks", then resume stalling the inspectors just long enough to get past the attack window, say the end of April. After that point, we're told it's too hot in the desert for our troops to operate effectively. So, this re-written resolution would be Saddam's ultimate escape clause. If I were the French, I'd vote yes on this one without hesitation. It gives them exactly what they want - no war, no regime change, status quo unaltered.
