Uh, no. I just listened to the 2300 broadcast from the BBC. The Royal Marines just deployed a brigade with armor up to the Iraqi border. This is just political bovine scattology from Dan Hewitt to po W.

There is nothing positive in this. Bush screwed up or listened to screwed up people. To go to the UN is a and always will be a joke. euroweenies like it cause they have no other power. The time to go is long past.

"" . . . If we have to, I guess we'll have to do it without the Brits. It's a sorry situation we are in.

But I do think that Blair has given it his best. It's too bad that a large majority of the British public think very little of our long-standing relationship."

Bush should call Blair and say: "Thanks, but you're off the hook; we can do this alone - no need to fall on your sword."

I respect Blair too. He's turned out to be a lot more than Clinton-lite - he's shown that he's a pal. Cut him lose and let's do this.

Here's to rememberance of the travesty of changing INFINITE JUSTICE to a name that makes Freedom something we have to endure.

Remember this quote "...unjustified violence against innocents"....That was the doofus in the Natl Cathedral invited to the service. Talk about mealy mouthed weasel words....

Defined "unjustified" and define "innocents" oh, traitorous imam.

I think we have to go and soon. Anecdotal evidence from overseas tells me people, even if against the US and the Iraq campaign, are perplexed by the tough talk and the inaction.

THe common refrain seems to be why hasn't it happened already if the US is serious and convinced about the threat.

The betting seems to be the US won't go in.
I believe they're wrong because all the cliches about being a paper tiger etc come into play.

And the United States cannot afford that perception to be cemented.

Rummy looks thinner, older and tireder. He seems to have aged 10 years in the last week.

I noticed that too. It occurred to me he looked sick, like he might have cancer. His skin color is bad, he looks gaunt and tired, and seems to be dispirited.

I suppose the strain is wearing on him with all this diplomatic delay.

The temperature this afternoon was 86 degrees in Kuwait City. Time is not with us on the weather and everybody seems to be ratcheting up the pressure for more and more delay. If this keeps up much longer we may pay a much higher price than we already have to.

US Concludes It Has Wiped Out Most Iraqi Air Defenses

When you get a chance please check this out. Does any of this help our cause in blinding Sadam and his military when we actually start the ground initiative. Don't believe all the hype. If anybody's laughing it ain't Sadam. I believe we've gotten great intel from the last bust of Mohammad and we're still moving forward on the war on terror as well as Iraq, and North Korea.

"Brits Backing Out?"

No...it doesn't look that way.

After all the media trumpeting calls of 'IMPEACH BUSH' from a billion gazillion anti-war protestors here in the United States, and with support for a war on Iraq only leukwarm while his approval numbers drop through the floor, has President Bush hasn't backed out?

Perhaps the Propaganda Machine wants President Bush to drop out as avidly as they want Blair to drop out REAL BAD, to save the Third Way, or whatever the worldwide coalition of socialist democrats is calling themselves these days?

"Someone please tell me where is the positive in all of this?"

Pray faithfully and strongly is my first piece of advice.

My second is for you to move out of California. I'm not trying to be flip about your problems, but if it's possible, you might consider moving somewhere where the job prospects are better and the state isn't out for your last dime.

People older than us went thru much worse and made it; you will too.

With all due respect you're overestimating the enemy and underestimating our own militaries ability to deal an overwhelming, devastating blow to him.
Our president suffers from one weakness. His desire to convince the world that - "No, I am absolutely positively not a cowboy." Won't work. Meanwhile the troops are in harms way. And the danger to them grows with each day of delay.
With or without the Brits; with or without the worlds blessing; let's, for christ's sake, roll Mister President!

Doesn't matter, we are not going into Iraq. I am more convinced of this than ever.

Likewise here. Discouragement does not even begin to describe my feelings right now.

Of course, my last sentence will prompt those so confident that we can get Saddam without breaking a sweat. If it were so easy, why not be done with it already? The longer we waited, the more went against our cause.

Agreed. And I fear we've gone past the point where we can proceed any further. We have now lost the one steadfast ally we had from the very start. That is an enormous blow from which I doubt anyone -- even Bush -- can recuperate.

I am really depressed right now. And no, I am not going to switch political parties away from being a Republican, and yes, I would vote for Bush again in 2004.

I am equally depressed, if not more so. The sad thing is, I honestly don't know if I'll vote for Bush again after he's managed to FUBAR this slam-dunk. (And no, that doesn't mean I'll vote Democrat...gag.)

I am watching our economy go into the tank, my wife lose her job of 22 years, the price of gas go through the roof, and now California wants to triple our car tax.

Someone please tell me where is the positive in all of this?

I'm sorry to say that I don't see one. The vocal minority shouted down those who were in the right. Our so-called leaders have just flat-out caved in. It's a dark time, and I only see darker times ahead now that we've let the Left know they can filibuster anything into oblivion.

I wish we could, but between my wife and I, we have 3 parents who live within 1 hour or so from us that are not in the best of health. And to be honest, I like living in the heart of Silicon Valley. Yeah, I know, a rarity for a Republican!

But thanks for the kind thought! :)

Under the proposed British amendment, Saddam would have 10 days to prove Iraq has taken a "strategic decision" to disarm, which could be done with a series of tests or "benchmarks," council diplomats said. If Iraq makes that decision, a second phase would begin with more time to verify Iraq's full disarmament

It should be obvious to everyone that Saddam will meet the minimum requirements of these "benchmarks", then resume stalling the inspectors just long enough to get past the attack window, say the end of April. After that point, we're told it's too hot in the desert for our troops to operate effectively. So, this re-written resolution would be Saddam's ultimate escape clause. If I were the French, I'd vote yes on this one without hesitation. It gives them exactly what they want - no war, no regime change, status quo unaltered.
