Can you please clarify that for me? I've thought about it all I can. When Puplava started pounding the table on commodities and gold and silver he must have been anticipating massive monetary and fiscal stimulus, new big government borrow and spending, and efforts to reflate/inflate and debase.

Aren't you the master statistician. You pick a start date of Jan. 02, conveniently right after the horrid bottoms of 911, and show a chart that shows upside. Go find some other sucker to push your gold mines on. There is no value creation in gold so it is a losing proposition. But you will never be convinced of that I am sure. Gee, would that be like you picking the all time high of gold in 1980 as your point of reference? Ooooh, smell that?...that's the smell of fresh-picked hypocracy. Yum yum!
And no, the gold bugs are not creating any value in gold...the Fed and the US Treasury are doing it for us.
Here, you can go assume the position now.

Damn the nanny state, pensions and insurance.
Damn withholding!
You give a good, an excellent example of the inherrent and irremovable rotteness of insuring for the regular event. Insurance for random catastrophes -- a different story, unless the government subsidizes it, in which case it turns rotten too.
I want grocery insurance! National grocery insurance! We all need to eat! I'd be happy to co-pay $2 every time I visits Acme!

Doesn't Puplava usually just whine about the stock market? It took you one sentence to say it, why couldn't Puplava?

Winter comes. Denial is futile. You will be deflated.
Fiat currency is irrelevant.
Economic cycles are irrelevant.
Resistance is futile.
You will buy gold.

Puplava talks about a wide range of investments and economic issues. I know that he doesn't like bubble economics and pro forma stock market flim flam and neither do I. Otherwise, I don't think that even the Market WrapUp regulars use him as a one stop shop guru. Like most people, "we" uses a variety of information sources. Puplava made a good call on gold and silver and I give him credit for that but his timing on the paper asset market has been well off.

I agree... isn't it a bit late to get into gold? It's over $400 an ounce.

I had forgotten all about my rant. Thanks for reminding me-:)
In reality, and upon review, I stand on my predictions from late 2002 and into 2003. The economy will grow, jobs will increase and the Dow will be over 11,000 when W is re-elected. The TSHTF, probably due to the terrs, and all bets are off. Gold only rises (IMHO) like this unless the other nations, those who are speculating and sponsoring the attempted demise of our nation, are investing on future attacks against us.

BTW: Ike is the Serbian death squad commander, and Martin is the hobo/cabbie. The other two are weasel stranglers, in my estimation.I laughed so hard at this my wife said I was weird.
Go figure.

I'll second that.
I've never read so much BS in one article.

You're right. It's a new low.
This is the dumbest article in the financial realm I've ever read.

The S&P 500 stock index is down almost 40 percent from its peak value in 2000. Sounds like an old number. Have you looked at the market in the past year? Some of us have been making money hand over fist. Of course, our liberal friends have been sitting on the sidelines missing a great upturn -- too afraid to move. Sad.

Since that time, my meager stocks have made five digits in profit through taking a strategy precisely the opposite of your investors' advice.
Have you taken that profit yet? That will be the key. If you're having "beginners luck" then, as a beginner, you'll ride them back down (no offense, it's just what ~95% of novice investors do).
If you feel that the market is going up for a long time, I'd at least put defensive stops in to protect the returns you've already won...
Also, Arete posts this every day.

Man, you need to send me some of what you're smoking!
I bought all of my mining stocks in June of this year, the crappiest is up ~75% and the best ~240%...
