Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead, too.
We heard about this event this morning.

Djindjic had many enemies because of his pro-reformist and Western stands.Hmmm. Could the gunmen have been muslim fundamentalists?

When I first saw the title, I thought it said "Syria Prime Minister Assassinated" Of course Syria doesn't have a Prime Minister they have a dictator.

While the news was posted
here in real time (i.e. 6 hours ago), this is the most-extensive article I've seen.
Democratic Party, eh?

I noticed this was the article with the most details.

I'd be dancing in the streets and firing my AK-47 if it were the Syrian PM </sarcasm?>

The AK47's are what the bad guys have. We have the M16's.

We heard about this event this morning. Indeed, but now we'll get to watch the process as the spin is placed on the story by various news outlets with an agenda to push. And if the initial postulations don't coincide with the official party line that eventually develops, count on them to drop off the websites of those outlets that spawned them
Accordingly, the archived copies take on new importance both as reminders of the initial direction, and of inconvenient details that may also later be supressed.
That was one of the reasons given for the establishment of Free Republic, and it remains an important one.

The media will spin it off as "This is what happens when you have democratic reforms"

Is it just me, or does it seem like Muslims are really not that wild about Democracy?
I'm glad we didn't have many Muslims in this country when it was founded. Otherwise we would have never gotten to where we are today.

The AK47s are what the bad guys have. We have the M16s. Not always.

The AK47's are what the bad guys have. We have the M16's. And yet almost all of the AK-47's used by the various tribal warlords in Afghanistan were given to them by the U.S. Go figure.

The AK47 is a good weapon and a marvel of design and manufacturing engineering. It is normally issued to people who can't hit anything at over 250 yards anyway.

For what it's designed for, the Kolishnikov is nearly a perfect weapon.

The Portuguese Prime Minister said that he supported America in Iraq because the French and German's were unlikely to come to Portugal's aid if it were attacked. The assasination of Serbian Prime Minister Djindjic now raises the issue of who will lead Europe in stabilizing the Balkans.
Hungary, Austria and Italy must be looking nervously over their shoulders at the Balkans. If another conflagration breaks out there, it will require an atomic bomb to flush Mssrs Chirac and Schroeder out of the firehouse.
Entrophy is bustin' out all over. From the Africa, to the Balkans, to the 'stans of Central Asia, to Indonesia and East Asia -- the world will be confronted with series of crises which current multilateral agencies are unwilling to confront. Hold rock concert fundraisers and television specials for; yes: confront, no.
Old Europe is on a 100-mile hour collision course with reality. They've parted ways with the hunter armed with a .457 Weatherby in Jurassic Park, and are approaching a pack of raptors with flowers. The flowers will look as useful on them as they will now on the casket of Djindjic.
To: steveegg
I'd even throw in an "Allah Akbar" if that happened!
