Did you hear about the Dixie Chicks' recent concert in London? They assured the audience they were "ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas". If you think the Chicks' are not representative of what country music fans think, you might want to contact your local radio station.

This probably isn't exhaustive, and if you have more to add, please do so. As a now former CUSTOMER of the Dixie Chicks (I bought Chicks' products), I won't be supporting their President-hating habits anymore.

A couple of threads already have started on this. Take at look at the articles posted there.
The Blixie Chix committed political and musical insanity last night on foreign soil.
Apparently, freeping shut down their yahoo site. Freeping stations is a great idea. Also their record label at:

On a POSITIVE note, Clint Black, at clintblack.com has a FREE SONG for download supporting our troops and President: Iraq & Roll! :)

I have to wonder...their single "Traveling Soilder" has been getting a lot of air play...partly, I believe, beause we are at war with terror.
Will this affect that, or will Americans tune out like me and you?
GOD BLESS TEXAS!

That would do it. Time to make a couple of calls to radio stations. My girls will be disappointed. No Dixie Chicks stuff for birthdays, Christmas, etc.

Well we should get Charlie Robinson tied up in this too. He's married to one of the chix (country singer--pretty much in Texas only). He's also on the USA network's Country Idol show. He's riding high right now, so we should add him to the boycott...until he gets his woman under control.

This is no surprise. Two clues: had a video about killing an abusive man (starring dennis franz) - the feminists loved this - abuse a woman, kill the man (of course I'm dead set against abuse but you can't take an eye for the loss of a finger)and 2: since then, have been celebrated by the Music Industry/Hollwood left. This is no surprise.
To: Recovering_Democrat
Wow. Hell of a list you put together. *applauds* Great job. I'm no country fan but I could at least tolerate their songs and liked the fact they've been on Sesame street (Hey I'm a mom of 3 and 6 yr old sons *LOL*) but they're off my 'acceptable country' list now.

I've always felt they would be a better band with a different lead singer. Their version of "Landslide", that has been getting an obscene amount of airplay, is pale and anemic campared to the original. It's just their physical attractiveness that has put their popularity above that of more talented artists like Alison Kraus and Union Station.
To: Recovering_Democrat
Ever since the Dixie chicks did that song about Earl, I have been a non-fan.

You're crazy if you think this is going to mean anything to them.
In the first place, there are no "independent" radio stations left anymore. They're all owned by syndicates.
In the second, they will play what sells. If they play what sells, then people will listen. When they listen, the advertisers buy time.
Go ahead, knock yourself out. Just realize what you're up against.
You might as well tell the networks to take the Oscar show off the tube this year.

Heh, heh, heh. One of the Blixie Chicks fans called us "Zionists" and has a link to one of the FReep links regarding this issue. I used to be a fan. No longer. If Natalie would have just kept her big mouth shut, I wouldn't be trashing my CD's and the Blixie Chicks. Wonder if they'll do a gig in Baghdad? They sure as heck won't play for President Bush whom they obviously hate, let alone support the troops who are protecting their sorry behinds from Saddamn--a tyrant who murders his own people, threatens his neighbors and would gladly give terrorists like Osama Bin Laden the tools to use against the US if he hasn't already!
Zionists? Hah! Any decent, patriotic fan who loves America and understands 9/11 and why we may have to fight in Iraq will let the Blixie Chicks know how they feel at the box office, radio stations and music stores. Any fan left standing and foolish enough to defend the Dixie Chick's stance is an "anti-Semite" if one applied that other stupid fan's "logic." Morons. What an outrageous thoughtless, idiotic thing to say.
I can't wait to hear Natalie spout her political wisdom on a stage in Nashville, Tennesee. (Heck, Tennesee didn't even carry her hero Albert Gore in the last election!)

HA HA HA! I did it! My money went somewhere else!
I had the new Chicks CD in my hands last night, and I came VERY VERY close to buying it. But I didn't. I decided to wait. Then, tonight, I read about their hateful attitude about our Commander In Chief during a time of war.
Well, I just committed the money I would've spent on the DIXIE CHICKS to the Republican Party!! BWA HA HA HA HA! Their attempt to diss our President results in SUPPORT FOR HIM!! ha ha ha!

Excellent job, Recovering_Democrat! You are earning your conservative stripes in spades, my FRiend :)
Another central Ohio station: WCLT-FM 100.3 T100 - Newark
Fwiw, I've always had my suspicions about the Chix. Particularly since that video other posters have alluded to ("Goodbye Earl") which advocates murder and was a huge favorite among the butch/feminazi crowd. Yecck!
I've never bought any Chicks stuff, and have no plans to start.

That wouldn't change the ratings of whatever network carries the Oscars in my house. It would go from .00 to .00 ;)

I always thought so too. But a lot of people I know seem to think differently. That's why I said they would be a better band with a different singer. Natalie's plain, her voice is generic, and she comes off as egotistical and arrogant; the sister's are really cute and are actually decent musicians.

Instead of giving these people so much attention - it would be better to stop talking about them, and just stop buying their records and CD's.
They're entitled to their opinion. The fact they felt it was appropriate to discuss it on a London stage - is beyond explanation.

I am disappointed. I really liked most of the chicks music.
What really surprises me is....get this....BACK in 1994, I was a delegate to the Texas Republican Party Convention in Fort Worth and that is the first time I ever heard the Dixie Chicks. Govenor Rick Perry, Texas Agriculture Commissioner at the time, introduced them and they entertained the delegates one evening. I really liked them better then because of their obvious musical talent and the lead singer was a lovely brunette with the sweetest voice you ever heard. Years later when I heard a song supposedly by the Dixie Chicks, it didn't sound at all the same. Took a while to get into Natalie's style- too frenetic. I got the impression that they were Republican back then....maybe they just didn't say one way or the other. But I can make a judgement about their wisdom.
To: Recovering_Democrat
Use
THIS LINK to send a message to Unliver (Lipton's Corps HQ) that you "Will not use nor purchase any Unliver Products until they stop all support of the Dixie Chicks."
BTW the "Dixie" Chicks should change their name to the "French Bitches." Or "Clinton's Gnew-kneepads."
