Beastie Boys Post Anti-War Song

The Beastie Boys have posted an anti-war song titled In A World Gone Mad," via their official website.

The new track, the band's first in more than four years, speaks out against what Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz claims is an unjust war with Iraq.

"This song is not an anti-American of pro-Saddam Hussein statement. This is a statement against an unjustified war," Horovitz said.

Member Adam Yauch added: "We felt it was important to comment on where the U.S. appears to be heading now. A war in Iraq will not resolve our problems. It can only result in the deaths of many innocent civilians and U.S. troops. If we are truly striving for safety, we need to build friendships, not try to bully the rest of the world."

Mike D also said: "Being together, writing and recording, we felt it would be irresponsible not to address what's going on in the world while the events are still current. It didn't make sense to us to wait until the entire record was finished to release this song."

The band are currently in the studio working on their long-awaited follow-up to 1998's "Hello Nasty."

Didn't someone once refer to these guys as "Jewish kids playing rapper"? I think it was another rapper.

These guys are just jumping on the Anti-War bandwagon. Just goes to show that entertainers will go to any lenghth for the almighty dollar.

I remember listening to them in the late 80's (I'm 34), and as I recall, their lyrics refered to, among other things, shooting people and sexually abusing girls. I guess they've turned a new leaf. Give Peace A Chance!!

Right.

Shame to watch these 3 Jewish guys transform into middle-age appeasers for the anti-semitic Saddam...

One of them converted to buddhism, and the others have been pacifists for a while. At this point I'm suprised they can program a beat at all other than Kum-ba-yah. A shame, really, that they no longer know that you have to fight for your right...

This song is too simple and retarded to be taken seriously. It's like Sheryl Crow's geopolitical stance as "the best way to avoid wars is to not have enemies." Wow. War, its like, bad.

The ramifications of Iraq and other Islamic fascist nations getting their hands on these weapons is very serious and justifies military action. Sorry Mike D but its not about oil; if it was we would've taken it in '91. I wish we could all live in peace, but for murderous tyrants like Hussein it will never happen. It appears the BBoys have been living in fantasy land (along with a lot of actors) on lollypop lane where everyone can just get together and make love not bombs. I'm all for it, but it is never going to happen as long as these tyrants remain in power and their quest to destroy the West and innocents isn't stopped.

Just 3 more twits who are apparently unaware of anything that occurred in the 1930's.

One of them converted to Buddhism . . . .

Good, let him study this ancient wisdom of the East.

I heard a portion of this song this morning and, aside from everything else, it is unbelievably bad.

Yes, the pillar of morality: The Beastie Boys "Girls - to do the dishes, Girls - to clean up my room , Girls - to do the laundry , Girls - and in the bathroom ,

Girls That's all I really want is girls Two at a time, I want girls "

Now I liked them then and still did now. I just wish these Hollywoodites would shut up already

"it’s hard to think right"

Well, at least they admit it.

"Due time we fight the non-violent fight"

Barf. However, I'm sure they thought that was real clever and cutesy...

"you build more bombs as you get more bold as your mid-life crisis war unfolds"

The Beasties have become such pacifist wimps in their middle-age. Pathetic.

"Now put that axis of evil bullshit on hold"

In this case, stupidity speaks for itself.

"Peace to the Middle East...Peace to Islam"

Barf again.

What am I on crazy pills?

You heard it here first, folks.

Get your hand out my grandma’s pocket

They just couldn't resist bringing up the elderly, could they? I'm surprised that he did not say mention the poor children...

"We need health care more than going to war."

And with that, folks, the Beasties, hate to say, are officially passe, cliche...

I just love how theses "celeberties" are experts on foreign policy all of a sudden. Maybe Bush and rumsfield should start a band amd do crappy rap songs.

Amazing how so many of these dopes couldn't find the inspiration to come up with any songs addressing the tragedy that befell their fellow countrymen on 9/11(in the Beasties case, right in their home neighborhood!), but are plenty excited when it comes to bad-mouthing, tearing down and blaming their country.
