If it means exposing children in school to Religion, which is the basic premise you've opened the gate to, then yes, teach them all. Even the ones you disagree with.

BTW, I agree with you that the 3Rs and History should be taught, However, if you ask whether Prayer should be included, you ARE opening the door to discussions of belief.

Obviously, some Folks feel that we should have Prayer in School, but what they really want is Christian Prayer in School. If you are opposed to other forms of Religion being included, then how can you feel good about interjecting one Religion over another.

Absolutely.

Since world History is so securely tied to world Religion, I dare say separating the two would be almost impossible.

Read my posts. I have continually stated that the "state" is prohibited from making laws with regard to religion. Prayer in schools is allowed by default. We never gave Congress the power to regulate it so they can't. If you want religion to be taught in the schools, the community (which should CONTROL the school board!!) can determine this. I would tend to say NO as it would expose my child to views I do not wish for them to be exposed to. Just as it is my right to restrict the views they are exposed to via TV etc...

Why do you deem to prescribe what is best for my child?

If it is my desire to raise him as a devout christian, why shoudl I "pollute" his mind with other beliefs?

The founders of this nation did not want the government involved in religion in any way. Mandating that any one specific, or all religions, should be taught directly violates the natural right of the parent to raise thier children according to thier beliefs.

If a child wants to pray in school, he can. There need not be any "school prayer". There need not be any "moment of silence" or any such nonsense.

Look, I think you both have tried smears and incendiary language to trot out your bankrupt view of the world as the truth.

It's too bad that you think that disposing of human life in dumpsters is okey dokie. It's too bad that you insist on denying what is true.

I believe that the Jews are the special Chosen Ones of G-d. They (and Israel) always should be supported by Christians. But I should be free to believe as I wish and it appears that you both would deny me that.

Perhaps the solution is not to have the State fund the schools at all. Then, the schools would not be public and this would not be an issue.

Have a day. The Tyrant. < /sarcasm>

As I said, we should NOT be teaching these things. That is the realm of the parent / church.

Sex Education is a prime example.

The police can NOT teach about the dangers of drugs (a physician could though) and if taught by a physician it would not be ethics but health.

Teaching history (i.e. the facts) does not impart values.

Civics teaches about the rights and responsibilities a citizen has in society. It is not about values.

Whether a value is common to all religions or not is immaterial. Values such as right & wrong, good and evil etc... are ones which are taught by the family according to thier beliefs. No one has the right to impose thier beliefs upon myself and my child, just as I may not impose mine upon others. That is true freedom.

I just love the moral relativists that persist in distorting Scripture....

There is one way to teach what Islam, Buddhism, etc. is about and ensuring that the truth of these "religions" is exposed.

There was a great book published a while ago about this. It was called the "Kingdom of the Cults."

Why do you insist that Islam (which includes instructions for beating your wife) be morally equivalent to Christianity? Why do you insist in calling black white?

BTW AAE;

Why would you be against allowing your children exposure to other Religions? I'm honestly curious about that.

Quite frankly, I would much rather my kids have a good understanding of many Religions, and have encouraged such since they were little.

Nobody's denying you one iota of your religious freedom.

Yes you are! As soon as you mandate that his child(ren) should be exposed to other religions against his will, you have denied him, and his children, that right.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Why should I expose them to what I believe to be false teachings which could tempt them to "experiment" in dangerous pratices or begin listening to "false prophets". If this is my belief, is not exposing my child to such things tantamount to endangerment of thier eternal souls? Would you, in all honesty knowingly allow your child to be exposed to something which you believe could cause them irreparable damage?
