To All:

The following article was sent to me by a member of the Green Party, who asked that I not affix his name to the publication of it.

He has written an excellent, I find, analysis on the moral bankruptcy of the anti-war movement in America. I encourage everyone to read the full article.

Anti-War Treason:

Disturbing as the topic may be, events have unfolded in a way that one must question at least the good sense, if not the patriotism, of many of those in the current anti Iraq war movement. It’s not that it’s unpatriotic to be against war (some great patriots have been against war) nor is it unpatriotic to criticize President Bush. No, the subject must be broached because the way opposition to the war has arisen, and its timing, seems designed to discredit not just this administration, but far more importantly, it seems to be intended as an attack on the credibility of the entire American system of government. Furthermore, if allowed to succeed, this ill begotten antiwar movement will engender less peace, bringing greater danger to this country and to the entire planet.

This is especially interesting considering it was written by a Green Party activist, someone supposedly on the "left" and therefore also supposedly anti-war by inclination.

I think one of the reasons why the anti-war protests are so loud and furious, is because of the time aspect. They know or suspect that this war with Iraq will be over really quickly, so if they are going to complain, they have to do so right this moment, to try to stop it. I also think that is the reason why the rhetoric has become so outlandish.

One of the reasons that most of us want it started is so it can hurry up and freakin' FINISH already, so these protestors will shut up.

Illbay:

What specifically was it you disagreed with?

What I found interesting and accurate was his perspective that the democratic debate on force in Iraq was debated by Congress; was voted on and passed; and most of Congress subsequently was re-elected. That is a good indication of citizen approval.

I don't disagree with it. With respect I simply do not believe that this was written by a "Green Party" member.

Actually, I know the person. He is indeed a Green Party member, albeit rather dissatisfied with their incoherencies.
