Most articles I've seen about Iraqis here in the U.S. have shown they welcome Liberation of the Iraqis. This guy says he moved here when he was 19. He doesn't sound like a Texan to me.

The OldDominantLiberalMedia searched long and hard, and finally came up with a former Iraqi who is against the war. If you search long enough, you can find a double strike penny, too.

Some Americans of Iraqi heritage say the developments go against everything the United States stands for I guess they never heard the 'Battle Hymn of the Republic'.

"I am horrified and outraged that my country, my nation is resorting to such barbarism," So are we Jawad. That's why we are going to rid your country of Saddam. Just calling yourself an American doesn't make you an American. There is more to it than that. You can call yourself an Eagle, but that doesn't mean you can fly. Once we've done your dirty work maybe you would be happier going back to Iraq.

I came to this country when I was 19. I love this country its institutions, its fair play and due process," said Jawad, a self-employed Dallas peace activist. " A little Google is instructive - Jawad seems to be a guiding light of the "Dallas Peace Center" and the "Committee in Solidarity with the People of Iraq"

He's an Iraqi in Texas, not a Texan from Iraq.

Being a 4th Generation Texan, I agree.
BTW, if red-headed blue-eyed terrorists had dropped the Twin Towers, I'd expect the FBI to question me and be a little worried if they gave me a pass.

This article should really read "Iraqis masquerading as Americans oppose move to unseat Iraqi Tyrant".
If any Germans in WW1 or WW2 expressed similar sympathies, they would have decorated the nearest lampost.
We have become too civilized and too tolerant for our own good or our national survival.

Jawad said he was assured he was not being investigated, and in response to questions, told authorities he knows no one contemplating terror in North Texas. Still, he felt his patriotism was being questioned If he were truly patriotic, wouldn't he be happy to support an investigation into possible terrorist acts against America? What does he think our government should do about Iraqi nationals living among us, if not ask them questions?

Note to Associated Press: just wanted to correct a typo in the headline of your, um, "news story".
"Two Texans of Iraqi descent decry march toward war"
You're welcome.

Bla, bla, blah - Iraqis have already stated they are not only happy but overwhelmingly involved in deposing the despot and having a change in their country. Nothing worse than a traitor, trying to pass as a true American citizen.

My husband is against this war, although he is very pro-American. The pope's declaration that this was an unjust war made a huge impression on him and he works closely with an anti-war Quaker who he respects. But I must say he was very impressed last night on the local news when an Iraqi was interviewed who has made his home here and still had relatives in Baghdad said that although worried for his relatives, he was for the war. This man had something (relatives) on the line and still was in support of the war. These are the folks that have a powerful message!

"You cannot insult him on TV and give him an ultimatum. You can't do it on TV like that and expect him to resign. We make him more stubborn, more stubborn than he is." When the USA speaks two-bit dictators better listen, we mean business unlike the UN.

Here's the email I just sent to AP (info@ap.org)
---------------------------------
Sirs:
I was dumfounded to read the following AP article (byline Matt Curry) in this morning's Dallas Morning News:
http://www.dallasnews.com/texassouthwest/ap/stories/AP_STATEGS_0567.html
Note that, despite a title that implies monolithic opposition ("Texans of Iraqi descent decry march toward war"), the reporter cites a grand total of _two_ Iraqi-Texans to support the thesis.
I was further dumfounded to discover, with a simple Google search, that the key source cited in the article (Hadi Jawad) is an activist in two extreme-Left groups (American Muslim Alliance and Coalition in Solidarity with the People of Iraq) that have formed coalitions with extreme anti-semitic groups such as the Nation of Islam. Even more curious: it appears Jawad is not Iraqi, but was born in Pakistan.
http://www.dallasobserver.com/issues/2003-02-06/feature.html/1/index.html
Oddly, Jawad is characterized in the article with the rather bland designation of "peace activist."
If you in the media are struggling to understand why we dopes in flyover country hold you in utter disregard, you need look no further than this sad little shred of agitprop masquerading as a "news story." If Mr. Curry and his headline writer wish to write Op-Eds, please reassign them to the appropriate department.
Sincerely,
David Burge
Chicago, IL
PS - Given a bit of time, I am confident I can locate two Right Wing extremists who would like to drop an atomic bomb on Paris. Would you please interview them, and run the story with the headline "Americans support nuclear annihilation of France"?
