Before you allowed this one priest to drive you out of the Church, did you ever take the time to find out if what he told your mother was actually TRUE?

There are millions of people who have given up limbs, eyes, ears, and their lives, rather than give up the Catholic Faith and the Eucharist. You allowed one stupid remark by one stupid priest to do what torture and death has failed to do to millions of people.

Are you calling my mother a liar? Or are you calling the priest a liar? Which one?

Conservababe asks a very good question, and I understand her disgust.

You should probably reconsider the tone with which you asked that, and should choose your words a bit more carefully.

I assume you label yourself a Christian. Let me ask three simple questions.

Have you asked Jesus Christ to be the Savior and Lord of your life? Have you given Him control of your life? Do you have a personal relationship with Him (are you born-again)?

Or do you subscribe to the idea that, as the last Priest I spoke to stated, "This personal relationship with Christ thing is very much over-blown by evangelicals".

Sadly, you're right! It's so inspiring to read of the beautiful sacrifices given by the faithfull, starting with the Lord himself. Many stayed within, and tried to make things better for the rest of the faithful, even under frightening and troubled conditions, and corrupt authorities. It was like they had brooms and mops, and cleaned up in their corner of the church where they saw problems that needed fixing!
