Not a good pick as a thesis, the "Why Do We Fight" movies
and the motivation of the soldiers who watched them were well analysed in WWII.
The answer shocked the psychologists, "Because my Buddy is there". Unit cohesion,Espirit de'corps,call it what you may, however, it works.
Why do you think that Democrats and Communists fight patriotism,the boy scouts, marriage etc. etc.?

I agree with that. It was true for my late Grandfather and Father in World Wars One and Two and it was true for me in Vietnam, but there are few today who ever heard a shot fired in anger- Much less were on the receiving end of incoming. The "I fight for my buddies" only works with combat vets. They know, they were there!
I don't have to preach to that choir. It is for the great unwashed I wrote this. Perhaps I took the wrong tact, but I stand my my words.
