I've seen the tapes of the POW's and the artillery casualties on Lebonese TV and Al Jazeera. There is no need to allow the images on FR. I have no doubt that the POWs were talkng because of what they saw happen to their cohorts. The artillery casualties are graphic.

I know personally I don't think I've been quite this angry since 9-11.

Dittoes.

I think someone who has access to the photos (I don't) should pixelate the facial features enough to make them unrecognizable, then post a link. I'm in total agreement with Darrell Worley - "If it was up to me, I'd show em every day". Too many people HAVE forgotten.

On this subject, as far as I am concerned, I think the images should be available, like the footage of 9-11. People need to understand why we fight.

However, I do agree the photographs/stills should be linked only, and not posted outright for obvious reasons.

Of course, you will still find the incredibly selfish and hateful saying they don't care, and it is our fault these soldiers died. And while we can imagine what should be done with these people, I think saying it in open forum will get you scorn and dirty looks from the AMs here and Jim.

FIRST AND FORMOST, THE TELECOMMUNICATION CAPABILITIES OUT OF IRAQ NEEDS TO BE CUT-OFF BY WHATEVER MEANS NECESSARY, THIS IS TO ENSURE THAT THE GRAPHIC IMAGES AS WERE BROADCASTED BY AL-JAZEER CAN NOT BE USED AS A TOOL TO CONTINUE THE IRAQI CONFIDENCE BUILDING IN THEIR LEADERS AND TROOPS THAT THEY CAN DEFEAT ALLIED FORCES. ONLY ALLLIED BROADCASTS FROM KUWAIT AND/OR OTHER LOCATIONS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE IRAQI AIRWAVES.... GOD BLESS AMERICA SEMPER FI!!!

Thanks for addressing this issue. Can this be a semi-permanent link on the sidebar or on the posting dialog?

Need some "white hat" hackers to disable al-Jazeer's satellite and Internet systems.

The State Dept. should notify all Satellite carriers that carry such Iraqi propaganda broadcasts that to do so risks the safety of their satellite and ground station assets. It would be a shame if there was an unfortunate micromeatiorite impact on those satellites. :)

I do not agree with this position. I think that disturbing images are very important and should recieve the widest possible distribution. If the Iraqis engage in atrocities, it should not be our policy to protect them from the public reaction.

That said, it's JimRob's call. He manages the finest site on the web, and even with this policy, it is much better than the next best thing. Keep up the good work!

BTW, I tell my child that if she studies very hard and works very hard, she may one day grow up to be powerful and respected, like Admin Moderator. And maybe she'll cut her old man some slack!

I agree with you. I don't want to see those pictures either. But this notion that some things are too 'disturbing' for the American public to see is patronizing and offensive. Our very best citizens are smack dab in the middle of it, and our sensibilities here at home are too delicate to see the images that a large part of the world are celebrating? Besides, the media doesn't seem to have too much trouble showing images of piles of Iraqi bodies. We SHOULD be angry at the things that the barbarians in the world are doing to us. Sanitization of images makes us unnaturally docile. It's wrong and it's denial.

All that said, I think posting links rather than images is a pretty good compromise.

We need to see the truth. I wouldn't want to see my child in those pictures but it would be far more disturbing if he was forgotten

We really don't need to be reminded of what this war is all about.

Most of us don't need to be reminded. I have to wonder about the people who claim they do.
