I'm not certain, but as I recall it depends upon the crime and the time. In peacetime it's the gallows. At War, if the offence was committed at the front it's the firing squad. If the offence was not at the front, the gallows.

I could be wrong.

Of course, with the PC Police, he could just be given a stern talking-to by Susan Sarandon.
