And the Marines will be facing the Republican Guard as well. The Republican Guard has chosen poorly.

Good! I was wondering who would have the priviledge!!!

I am so sorry, Ivan. This is a terrible thing for your people, as it was for ours last weekend. God bless them.
And, may the SAS figure out a way to take Al Jazeeera out in a covert operation.

the british officer whose words are in red in the article also views this this way. tell him to shut up, and then I will. jeez. testy. Show the respect for the men who died. As has been pointed out, you are a jackass and a troll; the onus remains on you to prove otherwise, not on me to be less "testy". At least I have a sense of dignity regarding the death of these brave men, a sense that you lack entirely.
I repeat: shut up.
its clear this shouldn't have happened -- and as people who say it will backfire believe, its certainly not in saddam's best interest to have it happen either.
So you don't think Saddam is behind it. How interesting. Saddam has shown that he has no understanding of the Americans and British; we saw that when he decided to stay in Kuwait.
Now that you've been shown to contribute nothing valuable to this thread apart from asinine insinuations, again, shut up.

"Then said he, I am going to my Fathers, and tho' with great Difficulty I am got hither, yet now I do not repent me of all the Trouble I have been at to arrive where I am. My Sword I give to him that shall succeed me in my Pilgrimage, and my Courage and Skill, to him that can get it. My Marks and Scars I carry with me, to be a Witness for me, that I have fought his Battles who will now be my Rewarder. When the Day that he must go hence, was come...he said, Death, where is thy Sting?... Grave, where is thy Victory? So he passed over, and all the Trumpets sounded for him on the other side."- John Bunyn, "The Pilgram's Progress", London, 1678

I'm heartily sick of Al Jazeera. I believe half of the problems we have with the "Arab street" would dry up if it did not exist to be the propaganda bureau of the Islamists.

Agreed. They are a prime source of troublemaking, from carrying messages from bin Laden to fomenting resentment against the west.
Thay are arrogant, evil, and a security risk anywhere they pop up. I say take out their transmitter. And if it is repaired, take it out again!

i'm sorry. things are very unclear. i addressed the propaganda value of the piece after a british officer did the same. The British officer was expressing his outrage at the deaths of these men being used as propaganda. You came along and by means of insinuations which were neither too clever nor too subtle, seemed to be first suggesting that this was somehow propaganda for the Allies in turn, and that in fact Saddam is not behind it, as in the long run, it will not benefit him.
You are not as intelligent as you think you are. You are disrespectful to the men who died.
I don't know who's behind it. the western trained journalists at al-jazeera are certainly capable of knowing what's good and bad for saddam, but like most journalists, i think they just care about their self-important ratings.
And now you're defending and rationalising Al Jazeera's behaviour.
I advise you to shut up before the moderators notice that you're an Iraqi apologist.

We can continue this for as long as you like, but in the end, you WILL be silent. I refuse to let you get away with showing the slightest hint of disrespect to the men who died.
The moment when you decide to duct tape your ignorant mouth is up to you.

Ivan, its just coming over the CNN ticker at the top of their website that British Marines discovered a cache of grenades stored at an Umm Qasr school.
Also this from CNN's site:
British aircraft have bombed a column of about 70 Iraqi armored vehicles as it made its way south of Basra toward Umm Qasr, a port city now under coalition control.
Coalition officials were not sure if the column, which was attacked Wednesday afternoon, represented a counterattack on the Umm Qasr area or if it was a tactical retreat from Basra.
Coalition troops decided not to split hairs, British pool journalist Bill Neely reported.
"Quite simply the allies weren't taking any chances," he said. "This is war. It was a large target, a large column, and the decision was made to attack it."

Ivan, its just coming over the CNN ticker at the top of their website that British Marines discovered a cache of grenades stored at an Umm Qasr school. Oh they had FILM of that on Sky News. The Royal Marines went into an Iraqi primary school, found grenades, rocket launchers, rockets. Saddam's people stored a huge arsenal of weapons in that school.
I fear we will find Saddam's most deadly items in schools, hospitals and mosques.

I'm sorry, Ivan.
Even my sister-in-law, a lefty, who voted Green when she lived in the UK, called the Iraqis who cut down our Marines who approached them to accept their surrender, "f***ing evil." And they are. "Bloody savages!", said under my breath.

Just give it a rest, will you? Can't you see that he's upset? Can't you make your point later? Just walk away...there's such a thing as a time and place for everything, and while FR is the place, this is definitely not the time.

additionally I don't think al-jazeera is doing this to favor either side -- apparently it might backfire and be in favor of saddam or might be to his favor -- i think al-jazeera is being like most journalists: wanting ratings. I think they're that way when the shock their audiences with shows with sexual content acceptable to the west, and i think its the same now. thats all. good nite. Al Jazeera apologist? Disgusting. I hope that you have at least a microscopic cell of a conscience and that it hurts you mercilessly.
