Low carbohydrade diets (not necessarily Atkins) can be useful for people with insulin related disorders and seem to have some use in controlling cravings, as well. I think the key with diets is to realize that everyone is a little different and that one diet may not be best for everyone. The problem with diets is that like all life-changing ideas, when it works for someone, it often turns that person into an evangelist that wants everyone to experience the same positive life change that the person who changed experienced. Use what works but don't wreck your health on something extreme.
