SINGAPORE, March 28 (Reuters) - Singapore on Friday nearly doubled the number of people quarantined to contain the spread of a deadly virus that has killed more than 54 people worldwide.
Health officials told reporters the city-state has ordered 1,514 citizens to stay home as the number of infections climbed, up from a quarantine of 861 on Wednesday.

I've been following the Hong Kong figures, and since Mar 19, the number of hospitalized cases has increased by an average of 11.8% per day.
Four of the 12 have symptoms considered signs of the disease, says B.C. chief medical health officer Dr. Perry Kendall, who lists the symptoms as dry cough, fever and shortness of breath.
Another eight have mild symptoms and have travelled to the affected areas of Toronto, Hong Kong, Singapore, Hanoi and China's Guangdong province.
