Can't you just FEEL the love here.
This exact same argument was played out in my home last night. All Canadians but different viewpoints.
Who won? Interesting in that even the anti-American ones are starting to realize that payback can be a bit$h.
I am ashamed of my country. My hubby's job relies on American interests. And already my job is feeling the affects of our position. People will have to answer for this. Remember Mulroney and the conservatives and barely getting official party status? The fall-out from this will change Canadian politics.

I could not care if that border is open right now or notSure why not. According to you your gasoline doesn't come from Canadian oil so why be dependent on any thing else that comes from there. Tourist industry isn't going to like you much. Orange growers neither.
In 2000, trade between Florida and Canada totaled $5.01 billion. Canada bought $2.24 billion worth of Florida-made goods . Some 9% of all Florida exports go to Canada, a figure surpassed only by Brazil
In 2000, Canadians made 2 million overnight visits to Florida and spent $1.42 billion.

Annoying and silly as Chretien is, let's not lump all Canadians in his mold.
Would you have agreed that Clinton & Company really represented America during his eight-year regime?
Let's give Canada a little time. Every country gets flaky now and then. France and some of the other Weasels are the real problem, not Canada.

QUOTE "No Americans are hated because they can be insufferably obnoxious and shallow, like your post. That kind of facist hyperbole does no one any good. How
would you like to have to have defended the US's actions during Bill Clinton's reign? Could you have defended everything that was done (or not done) by the
US then? There are a lot of Canadians in official positions that are coming forth with support for the US, and there are Canadians serving in the Gulf right now.
Give the Canadians a break. Yes, they have let us down right now, but remember they have a much smaller population than the US, and they happen to be in the
grip of an insufferable government. That won't last. Don't burn your bridges." END QUOTE
Thank you...and well stated. This is exactly what I am trying to say. I live here in Toronto...and I know what is being said on both sides. Canada is like a brother to the United States and brothers fight too. We do not always have to see eye to eye on things. In the end Canada loves America...and America loves Canada.

I like the way that Candian people trashed the gun registry there, to the point they gave up.
Thanks!

What about the fact that Canada's health system is in crisis by itself, and about to implode?

Maybe if Chretin, Ducros, et al thought before being insulting pre-sentient dinoflagellum maybe we wouldn't be so angry at Canada, eh?
Maybe if our neighbor to the north practiced nice relations and backed us up instead of acting like a wannabe French Colony and backing up Iraq, we'd be alot more disposed to feel good about Canada.
That isn't what happened, now, is it?

What about the fact that Canada's health system is in crisis by itself, and about to implode? No . Get past the propaganda and foolishness . It's got the same problems, no more ,no less than any health care system. Including the US.
Canada has longer life expectancy and lower birth mortality than the US. Canada Healthcare serves 31 million people and last year a little over 600 crossed the border to have procedures not available in Canada.
Two weeks ago a patient had an operation in a local hospital. The surgeon was 300 miles away in Hamilton Ontario. It was done using on-line, robotic technology combined with key hole surgery techniques. First in the world. And it's been done several times since. These things do not happen in a system that's going to implode.
But it's not a perfect system. It never will be.
And where in the ell do you get Canada backing Iraq?

Why don't you talk to some of those nice peace loving Canadians...
I have.
Quite a few(hundred) of them are rabidly adamant that Iraq is such a benignly led nation.
Why don't you open your eyes to what your government has to say?
What it has been saying?
Chretin is just what a shortened form of his name would be.
Ducros should have been speaking about HIMSELF (she's really a man, right?) and Cretin.

I have.
Chretin is a cretin.
Ducrose still has yet to say anything meaningful.
Canada's healthcare system is in a bind and the propaganda machine is trying to spin it into a non-issue.
99% of Canadians that have been encountered are unduly hostile about anything and everything, believe wrongly that the war is unjust and that Sadddam is a benign cuddly fluffball, and get darn rude.
Like I said, maybe if our neighbor to the north hadn't been so egregiously...a rude copy of Chiraq and Company, there would be a better atmosphere between our two countries.
So far, I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of Canadians who have remembered hiostroy, and actually been nice, well spoken, honest personalities rathe rthan insulting anti-American zealots.

SARS my butt. They just visited Los Angeles and San Diego and discovered how much better job America does of giving health care to illegal immigrants than Mexico does to its own citizens, and decided to give it a try themselves.

look my opinion is that you can't judge an entire nation by the action of a few powerful people, that is highly ignorant. albeit france is another story ;-)

Their soldiers aren't but your political leaders are disengenious, socialist cowards. Yes, it is their leaders which are most offensive, but then, Bill Clinton was a disengenuous, socialist coward, too. Enough Americans voted for his heir-apparent in 2000 that we came within a RCH of electing that moron Gore. The old saying about people "getting the government that they deserve" certainly does not always hold true. It is that "There but for the Grace of God go we" feeling that compels me to aim carefully for Chretien when I feel like tossing a brickbat Canada's way.

I agree with what you said, excepting the origins of the 1918 Spansh flu. A documentary I saw suggested that it started in an army base in Texas IIRC and spread overseas when those troops were sent to the fronmt lines in Europe.

While doctors insist there is still no reason to panic, patients aren't so convinced.
AGHHHHH..... Say no to Canada.
