My questions is, what happened on the black album, was Kirk Hammett's guitar even plugged in? I haven't listened to any of their latest albums but a friend of mine was saying last week that the latest one had gone techno? Was he joking or is that true, since I find it hard to believe.

Not sure - they have gone "alternative". I thought they screwed over Jason Newstead as well. Hammett is a great guitarist - I wonder if he had classical training from some of his solos.

Next thing you know, Slayer will be doing Ace of Base covers :)

Hammet learned his chops from Joe Satriani and it shows.
What did they do to Jason Newstead? I think he did a great job after Burton's brutal and untimely death.

As the Bass player, in a band with two great guitar players, you're not gonna get a twenty minute solo. Imagine how Michael Anthony feels.
