For the last month, a small but dedicated group (organized by FReeper, majorc_us) has gathered along the main highway in Brandon, FL to show support for our troops. The first time we met, there were five of us waving flags and handmade signs. By last weekend our numbers had grown to approximately 30; and this weekend there were nearly 60 of us. The local NBC station reported, however, that "hundreds" gathered. Can you believe it?--some press biased in our favor for a change! :)

We meet every Saturday in Brandon from 1-4 p.m. at Clayton Plaza on Hwy. 60 (Kings Ave. & 60). All are welcome. Please join us, and ping any Central FL FReepers you can think of who might participate. We would love to see you there!

Thank you, Julie. :) Good luck with your event tomorrow. Our group has had a tremendous response from the public. People will park their cars and come over and thank us before going about their business. They relate the stories of their own family members who are serving, and they are grateful for a visible show of support like ours. One local businessman stopped and gave us all American flag t-shirts and visors. The local Chick-Fil-A store manager brought gallons of lemonade and ice tea. It is wonderful to see the community pulling together and the heartfelt gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our troops.

Tomorrow's Rally is the result of collecting email addresses at a Veterans Rally last Sunday. After that program, many who attended went out along busy Rte 41 to demonstrate their support for our troops.

They seemed so eager to stand up for America that I suggested a repeat Rally on this Sunday. Now I have a core group of 20 who will be bringing friends as well.

Also hoping to get some media coverage.
