Part of the problem is deciphering what "they" really mean when they use various buzz-words. For example, tolerance is widely used and considered a good thing. What does that mean? My Webster's defines it as (something like) "Allowing others to hold differing beliefs without accepting those beliefs." Of course, to the modern day sophists, it has now morphed into _approval_ and outright admiration, etc.

O L-RD, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?
He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness,
And speaks truth in his heart.
He does not slander with his tongue,
Nor does evil to his neighbor,
Nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But who honors those who fear the L-RD;
He swears to his own hurt and does not change;
He does not put out his money at interest,
Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things will never be shaken.

What people fail to realize is that "tolerance" itself is a bit of a snub. If you hold a belief, it is because you are convinced that it is correct (otherwise, you'd change your belief).
If you "tolerate" others with different beliefs, you're saying, in effect, "You're wrong, but I'll let it slide". A little patronizing, yes?

Part of the problem is deciphering what "they" really mean when they use various buzz-words. A cogent point. Noam Chomsky and various other left-wingers have observed that to own the language is to own the discourse. That is why words such as "discrimination" have been so vilified. In a more genteel age, "discriminating taste" was a compliment.
This is also true of such euphemisms as "affirmative action," which is neither affirmative nor action, but simply racial prejudice with a candy coating; "partial-birth abortion," which is simply murder; and "gay rights," which is legitimization of perversion.
If the Left speaks frankly, their agenda becomes clear and people will recoil in horror. So they disguise their motives just as they disguise their intent.
