I like the "attempts to run for the hills or Syria" solution, myself. Call it Arc Light Part 2 or Highway of Death Part Duex, or whatever. Does make sense to me to give the enemy an avenue of escape (if possible) and then drive him into the ground. People can do funny things when their back is against the wall, even the Baathists.
