Something tells me your comment is about to be pulled.
Look, you may be a brave Marine, but you are a misogynist.
I don't care if you think women shouldn't be in combat.
I do care that you insult me by saying I can't use my head and am "emotional."
Don't you get it that you are attacking me as a proxy? That you are the one who is emotional about something right now and are taking out your anger on me, when all I did was report some sad news.
Who is the lady that done you wrong? Maybe you insulted her and disrespected her one too many times, and that is why she left you and you are angry.
Well, let's say that as an American, I think when we are at war that it serves no purpose not to give a soldier (any soldier) the benefit of the doubt.
I have long been a supporter of our military, and I have long been a defender of our military.
I don't think wartime is the time to pick and choose whom to be good to, and whom to run a political agenda against.
I don't like the Dems picking and choosing whether to support the CIC during a time of war based on a political agenda. If President Clinton were leading the charge into Baghdad, I would support even him.
And if a woman or a Panamanian or an Indian or an illegal immigrant is fighting and risking life and limb for my country in our armed services, I am not going to quibble about it while the bullets are flying.
Yeah, I don't like people trashing or disrespecting any service member. And yeah, I think this is a good time to lavish praise on service members. And yeah, I think this is also a good time to pray for them and be thankful to God for them.
So paraphasing some old saw, if you don't have anything nice to say about a service member for the duration of the war, don't say anything at all.
Cheers, CC :)
Where I eat, they have an empty place setting draped in black for the MIA's. Don't ever think that those MIA's mean more to you than they do to the troops and staff here.
When looking at the extremely few negative comments regarding PFC Lynch it really isn't what one would have thought with your comment. Most of the negativism was aimed at women in general in combat roles. The vast majority of the discussion and debate (as I recall) was regarding the standards of actions for heroism. Like others abd based on what facts we had at the time, tags of heroism were premature at best. Nothing in that denigrates her feat of survival, but it still doesn't get into the arean of heroism.
Based on yours and some collateral remarks, I'd suggest that there are way too many people who don't know disagreement from insults, and think that disagreement is insulting while throwing insults is simply disagreement. That's not uncommon with freepers nowadays.
Why would you ask me about a prayer list? That sometimes a very condescending tactic, although I won't assume it to be in this case.
If your offer is sincere, I'll accept, however there are others in greater need than I.
Yes, fellow American, the offer is sincere. It was an olive branch.

I'm too old to lead troops anymore, so when this opportunity came up I jumped on it. My part isn't huge, but I get to do something.
However, I'm here by choice. The troops didn't make that specific choice. Especially the Reservists. Yes they signed on the dotted line, but the disruption in their lives is far greater than most realize.
Did you know that some of these Reservists will lose their business or private practices because they are gone a year? Not to mention that some of them are losing many hundreds of dollars each month in income.
These guys and their families need the prayers more than I.
God has a big tent policy. There is room to pray for all of you.
