U.S. says special forces enter palace near Baghdad

AS SAYLIYA CAMP, Qatar, April 3 (Reuters) - U.S. special forces entered Iraqi installations near Baghdad overnight, including a palace, a U.S. military spokesman said on Thursday.

"We are getting the sense that the command and control capabilities continue to be significantly deteriorated," Captain Frank Thorp told CNN television at Central Command in Qatar.

"Just last night special forces in the vicinity of Baghdad were able to go into several important sites, one specifically a palace in the vicinity of Baghdad, where special forces were able to go, go in, take a look and come back out."

He gave no further details. Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and other senior figures have many palace compounds in and around the sprawling Iraqi capital. U.S. armoured units were advancing close to the city limits on Thursday.

He added that special forces also succeeded in preventing Iraqi troops blowing up several bridges and a dam.

It's called "the pause that refreshes." The next "quagmire" will be how to administrate Iraq. If GWB sticks to his guns and makes it a USA only problem then that won't be a quagmire either. If he lets the EU and UN in on the game it will be an endless maze of BS. Our victory over the liberal pundits is nearly as satisfying as our military successes.

Please tell me there's a good term in terms of disinformation why we're letting this info out. Please don't be the military engaging in the PR war of the day.

LOL! We're just having a hard time finding the quagmire, but we know it's there.
