A lot in the entertainment industry equate fame with insight. They think that just because they sang on a street corner or waited tables while starring in grade D schlock during the lean years makes them some sort of enlightened figures.

Logicians have an entire category for these jerks: It's called FALSE AUTHORITY.

"Honestly, I have more respect for her. She's standing up for what she believes in, no matter how misguided. Better this than a fake apology. I mean this with all my heart."

? I'm too old to get it. She doesn't believe it. It's the in thing to say among performers. It's so trendy for jet setters to lash out at Bush from a foreign country.

She was also quick to point out that in her hometown of Lubbock, Texas, "only six people showed up," for a public Chicks CD-smashing protest.

Well, sweetie, maybe only six people had a Dixie Chick CD to smash.

Their biggest worry would be, "Falling off the gravy train."

Rumor has it that sweet Miss Natalie comes from a "very" prominant and well to do family in the area. So when all is said and done, she can just run home to mommy and daddy and all will be well.

I'm curious, are these sluts now selling to the arthritic CS&N crowd, or hoping to crossover?

"The more flack I get for it, the prouder I am."

But wait, I thought she apologized. I thought she was sorry. Shallow little twerp.

Right. First she insults Bush.
Then she was wrong and she was sorry.
Now she's proud of what she said.

What a confused skitzo little airhead.

Whats REALLY sad is being "country music royalty" and not having a single, much less a hit, for the past 20 years.

Most Americans can't name all the real Queen's kids. Why should they give a damn about Johnny Cash's? (And if I have to pick one of them, I'm going with Carlene Carter, heroin and all.) This is just that Australian trying to spin his audience into believing that Roseanne's opinion means something, when the reality is that most current US country music fans don't even know she exists and, if anything, it's proof of just how far down the list he had to go to find anyone with an Aussie-media-acceptable Bush-hate opinion.

Yeah, but when you have a lot, you always want more. :-}

"Honestly, I have more respect for her. She's standing up for what she believes in, no matter how misguided. Better this than a fake apology. I mean this with all my heart."

Why am I not surprised? You have respect for someone who bashes our President on foreign soil, makes two lame attempts to explain herself, admitting that she regretted disrespecting the President. Fast forward to this week where Natalie now says her comments about Bush were a joke. Now Natalie has changed her story yet again.... Now, it's, "The more flack I get for it, the prouder I am."

Yep, Hildy, I doubt it surprises anyone on FR that you characterize Natalie's "all over the map" statements as a courageous stance for what she believes in. I hate to burst your chick bubble, but Natalie did offer up a fake apology. She is a disgraceful airhead and so is anyone who defends her.

Actually, I am serious. I have every faith that our troops would react appropriatly to any one who has treated our Commander in Chief with such disrespect. I think Miss Maines would have a change of heart after spending some time with the men and women who were and are willing to die for her right to be so effing stupid. Maybe they could give her a tour of some of the "hospital rooms" they have discovered. If she is up to it, maybe Jessica Lynch could be the tour guide.

That's funny, because Lubbock NEVER HAD a CD-smashing protest of the Chicks! So not only is Natalie an idiot, but she's a liar as well.

You better find a way to disarm the entire state of West Virginia first (good luck).

..wanted to bump this thread to the attention of those on previous DC threads...

We have got to elevate this latest Maines comment back into the consciousness of the country music media and fans.
