I read these things, see the pictures, I can only shake my head. I naively don't understand how this stuff can be happening in my lifetime. This is stuff that you only 'read about' that happened long ago, before I was born, or in books of fiction.

What's even more disturbing is that it's not just Iraq where this type of horror occurs. I have heard of the terrible cruelty in North Korea and China, for instance, that is going on even now.
