A LIFE LIVED, DELIBERATELY
By Mumia Abu-Jamal
Column #419 -- Written 22 February 1999
Welcome, students of Evergreen, and thank you for this invitation: Ona MOVE! LLJA! I feel privileged to address your chosen theme, not because I am some kind of orator, but because a "life lived deliberately" has been the example of people that I admire and respect, such as Malcolm X; Dr. Huey P. Newton, founder of the BPP; like Ramona Africa, who survived the hellish bombing by police of May 13th, 1985; or the MOVE 9, committed rebels now encaged for up to 100 yrs. in Pa. hellholes, despite their innocence, solely for their adherence to the Teachings of JA!
