Isn't it strange to get feelings like that! I wonder where that comes from? Premonitions will come to me just out of no where--not about someone being in danger but just silly little things. I didn't get a bad feeling when I was watching David Bloom, but, since the start of the war, I did take notice of what a good reporter he was . I was chuckling the other day because he looked so road /war worn and I'm not used to seeing reporters in that condition. Thank you so much to David Bloom for his service and contributions to this country.
New York-AP -- The family of NBC correspondent David Bloom has issued a statement about his death.
They say he touched many people throughout his life and his work, "but none more than his family." They also say they "will miss him forever."
Bloom died from an apparent blood clot Sunday while covering the war in Iraq. He was 39 and is survived by his wife and three daughters.
Bloom was from Minnesota and played hockey in high school. There was a moment of silence for him before Sunday's night N-H-L game in Saint Paul between the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets.
The recent deaths of David Bloom, Michael Kelly, and other journalists in this war is a reminder to us of how a free press serves to enable liberty to thrive, in a way that the soldier's bayonet cannot. The soldier can free us from tyrants, but the journalist gives voice to that freedom.
Remember the journalists who have died for free speech, especially those who have died while in the battlefield.
