I think it's a blood clot in your lung. Maybe a medical type will be able to elaborate.

My nephew has one. It is a blood clot in his lung area. He first had pneumonia and couldn't shake it... first one hospital missed it and sent him home...he checked himself into another hospital where it was most definitely FOUND and is being treated!

If untreated it is often or eventually fatal. If treated, it can be thinned out and gotten "rid" of over a few months. That's as much as I know. Right now he's about 1.5 months into treatment so this is extra scary to me.

I'm not a medical type, but my mom died of the same thing at age 46. As best I can understand it typically begins as a blood clot in the leg caused by sitting in the same position for hours at a time. The clot breaks loose and travels up to the lungs causing death.

In my mom's case it was caused by sitting on an airplane seat in the same position for many hours on the way to Hawaii. In Blooms case I would bet it was caused by sitting in the same position for hours in whatever military vehicle he was riding in.
