'Walkabout Saddam was double' claims Apr 7 2003

A Saudi newspaper claimed today that it was not Saddam Hussein who made the filmed walkabout in Baghdad on Friday but a double.

Al-Watan identified the double as Ahmed Hadushi, brother of Saddam's trusted Major Jabar al-Hadushi.

It quoted an Iraqi secret service informant as saying Ahmed Hadushi had undergone plastic surgery several times to increase his similarity to Saddam.

The newspaper showed a picture of Hadushi alongside one of the real Saddam, indicating from the appearance of Hadushi's left eyebrow that he was not the Iraqi leader

Could it be that Sadaam is really just a sock-puppet wielded by a group of people who'd just as soon not be well known?

I, for one, am shocked, shocked! and amazed at this unexpected revelation. What is the world coming to, when you can't even trust the Iraqi Minister of Information not to lie???

(BTW, does that "MINISTRY OF INFORMATION" thing remind anyone else of "1984"? Terrible novel, but great political prognostication).

Kind of a resume killer. He's really limited his future career options.
