Don't you think the two tie together, though? An outstanding, very qualified woman (Bodine the diplomat) to lead in Iraq, where as Balsam (the author) says, if the image of women can undergo a change, that will drastically undermine what fuels the terrorists.

All I remember about Bodine is that she is the one who hampered the Cole investigation. I was under the impression that she was pretty far left, and that she was in good standing with the Clintoon White House, regardless of what the writer above thinks. Whether she is the right person for this particular job, I don't know, but it seems to me that she put the interests of her Yemen ambassador job above that of the nation in the Cole bombing. The hardline Iraqis are going to need a Patton-type in charge there; somebody like Bodine can be in charge of Cultural Affairs. Keep an eye on this one...
